most games are, i remmember when we managed to get into grand theft auto
enough to map edit, edit all cars sprite, textures, well edit the whole
game. We all got stern letters from teh producers, in the end nothing
happened, some of the programs we're sold, and in the end the prducers
learned more from us for the sequel, than we learned for them, so maybe if
ther ewas ever a TT2, Josefs patch would influence it...

: I think that what is illegal is distributing what you've done with
: disassembling tools, but you're allowed to do whatever you want with your
: software legal copy as long as you keep the result for yourself only.
: Ok, Josef is far from being the only user of TTDLX, but I'm not sure that
: the license make it forbidden to alter this particular game.

Press View, All Headers, and then in the Followup-To box, type in
alt.warez.
Doesn't do much but shows you mean business. Like I have. Agent users,
once the message is opened ready for you to type replies, press Ctrl+D.
Then
scroll down to find the Followup-To field, and type in alt.warez. Easy!
Hey, I didn't notice this OE feature. I thought it was simply impossible to
set the Follow-Up-To row with this M$ program. But, at this time, I won't
like my mailbox to be flamed and I don't ever have an access to alt.warez.

Maybe...but if that were true, then all the TT websites would be closed
down
for breach of copyright. Although it would be unlikely.
<AHEM>...Why?
I don't know about you but I put a copyright notice on my front screen.
Just in case they decide to get all fussy...

:-) I know what you mean.

Most people use alt.dev.null for some strange reason. Nearly every server
can access that. And I'll use it.

What use is saying you have a copyright, when in fact you haven't? It is
impossible to copyright material which has already been copyrighted by
someone else. The truth is better.

Is there not a difference? The warez site is giving away the software for
free, depriving the people who develop the software, money. We on the other
hand, copy graphics and other info from the game to promote how fab it is.

Is it wrong to copy graphics and other info from a game (all the vehicle
info for example) and pop it on a web site for reference purposes to other
interested parties?

How does that help?

Nope. What a website does, doesn't harm the game developers, more like
promotes it, as you say.
A warezer *is* causing damage.

Exactly. That's what I said.

Yeah....And our type of website acutally HELPS gamers (From a certain point
of view)
Its incredable how many e-mails I get asking for info on where they can get
hold of it..
How does that help?
Exactly. That's what I said.
OK...What it does is tells the reader that the games lisence is held by the
compant (Microprose in my case) And that they I am using THEIR infostuff and
so on
If somebody copyrighted a scenario anybody who held the scenario for D/L
would *technically* have to tell people that it was copyrighted..
