It is only for Graphic artists as soon as it's finished.

I am around, although for some reason I haven't been getting notified of replies in this forum... I have been in the other threads though.

Couple of things, in no particular order...

1. I really like the pagoda gates. I think they look fine in the forests. BUT they don't look fine clustered all together. I don't know how the random-tree-generator works, but is there one kind of tree that is fairly rare, so you wouldn't likely get a whole stand of them? The pagoda gate would work well for that. I think it should be a little brighter red though, they are supposed to look almost lacquer-y.

2. Dinges, your site is absolutely valuable. I notice you talking about "linking" to other sites for downloads. In some cases this might be best, like with Micheal who is often updating them, but in other cases the trouble with this is you never know if the site may go off the air. Like now we have to dig around to find the DB dutch locos somewhere, and they were really cool.

3. I have spent some time with all the readily-available new trains recently, and they are just so cool. The electric rail is very cool also.

Question - I realize you can use TTD Alter to change the text from "Monorail" to "Electrified". Is it possible to do a pre-packaged program that will do that for you when you install the accompanying graphic file? We will want this for East Asia, for one thing we want to have Japanese-sounding town names if we can.

Problem - All the new trains in the Temperate world work just fine, but they mostly don't in the Artic world. You only ever get two of the original diesel locos, no steam at all, only one electric. The rest just don't show up, and you don't even get the first one until 1969, so the game is rather not fun. Any ideas as to the trouble? I downloaded and re-installed that particular ZIP file just to make sure.

Another oddity is, in the Arctic world, the Daewoo car-carrier graphic is the mixed-goods (two bays, cockpit in the middle). In the Temperate world it looks fine.

Any thoughts? The Temperate was such fun, I'd like to try the Arctic with the new trains if I can get them to work.

One last, all the original electric engines work on the non-electrified track. I assume they are supposed to be that way. Do you think it would make more sense to force them to be on the electrified rails also?

The ability of non-electrified trains to run on electrified track and stations, no matter how they were built, is just SO COOL.

I have found them but they are far outdated. For example there is steam coming out of the diesel engine (tryed it) and they don't work okay if you try to load them together with Michaels Set. Also I get no real names

So I'm going to modify them and see what I can make of it. And the credits will be for the person "John Doe" becouse I don't know his name.

krtaylor there is no rare tree or at least cant find one they all appear randomly... maybe as GW said, replace it with the rocks or i can even use it for soemthing else btw red is better your right...

i found out how the silly-names generator works, they have a start and a end part so we should use names like -shima -to -hai -yama -xang etc. for the endpart and kyo- kago- wei- shang- etc. for front parts...

Anyone noticed new sections at my site?

It's called projects and you can view my latest data about these.

MS Trainsimulator
East Asia project

If anyone finishes any stuff (or me) I can add that over there.

At MSTS I placed a few Trainnames that I'm gonna make. You can watch some screenies when you press the routes.

Edit by Owen: Fixed URLs. ;)

Say, is anyone still working on the East Asia project except for you, Dinges? I've tried to get more people to work on the graphics but there doesn't seem to be much spare graphics talent out there.

There hasn't been any progress to speak of in a long time, so I haven't had anything to update on my site I'm afraid. I did fix those links just now, thanks.

I've talked to several people about working on the drawings, you can see that in the forums, but nothing much has come out of it yet. Dinges did a lot but he was the only one recently, and that's discouraging. Instead I think he is adding a couple of trains to the Temperate set, to make a rounded-out North American set. I'd have thought the many interesting Japanese trains would have aroused more interest in drawing them but not so far anyway.

We also cannot go ahead with the industries until we understand more about how to rewire them. There's been some traffic on this recently but I don't know how to do it. The Toyland industries themselves are not suited to be redrawn into anything else, their sprites layout is really weird. We want to use industries from other environments, which we understand can be done, but we don't know how. The Mars environment seems to do something like this but I don't know how it works. I don't code in the right language to figure it out.
