Bunston is another major town and the terminus of the local line through Gonburg. The station is a bit out of the way for the CBD and it is proposed that, when traffic increases, a new station will be built with this one remaining as a reversing point before onward travel to the new main station.

Datston is the largest town on the map and is due South of Gonburg. Although it doesn't see much traffic currently it is intended to have it linked with most cities by at least 1 route. Some even have 2 routes planned.

Looking good as always!
I always hate to see people abandon their previous game to start a new one, but you've seen fit to build quite a bit before taking screenshots :)
The map looks rather tiny;Is it a tiny scenario or am I just used to OpenTTD sizes? ?(

I think its the .grf he's using that gets rid of the black on the map edge and replaces it with water. I thought it looked small too but then again TTDP maps are small compared to some OTTD creations.

Although I only ever play on 256x256 maps because I spend lots of time tinkering with little bits and pieces and usually only just fill a map that size :P

Looking good mate, but once again you've forgotten German town names, AND another forest fire appears to have destroyed all your trees, unfortunately!

Fantastic stuff Ameecher. You play just the kind of game i really like, although i use OTTD!

And i'm itching to get my hands on those stations. Good thing we have Michael Blunk and his stations to keep me going until then!

First of all, it's a standard TTDP 256*256 map.
As for:

I do use that but that doesn't make the map edges blue instead of black. Paint filler tool does that bit ;)

The trials of making my own scenario.

Lost in the post or something. I haven't had time to make it, and anyway, it wouldn't have those stations in it anyway.

Bit of a problem now. My computer has died a bit of a nasty death. The HD is recoverable so the game is safe (Hopefully!) but will be on hold until I can get my grubby little mits on a new computer :(

Nope. The cats left it alone (aside from sleeping on it). This was an issue with the RAM and motherboard being fried. All good fun :D

Windows ME do you? Unfortunately the computer is not connected to the internet so I shall have to transfer the pictures to this computer. I'll give you a background to the new game until I can be arsed to boot up the ME s*** and transfer the files across.
The Nordseebahn, the largest and oldest company in the region is located in the flatter and more fertile northern lands of the region. With a number of routes and the largest fleet there is a diverse range of services from Goods to Passenger, Grain to Wood.
Further south is the Sudlandbahn which operates across far more challenging terrain and was, as such, electrified from its earliest days. The hilly nature of the south of the map means that a number of steep grades exist and that lines are single for much of their length (although, this has changed in recent years with mainlines only maintaining a small amount of single section).
For a couple of decades the two systems operated independently of each other but it was realised that in order to ensure the economic well being of the region the large towns and industries needed to be connected. As such a coalition railway between the two companies called "Borderlandsbahn" was set up. The new company owned the track linking the two seperate companies lines together and was also in charge of local services along the new sections of line. The other main job was the operation of the new long distance express trains which operated across both countries metals and a number of freight trains.

Freight that crosses sections is usually operated by the company from which the cargo originates.

Now onto the screenshots :D

Nunningbury is the main hub for the Sudlandbahn (SLB), nearly all of it's services originate or call here.

Heham HBf, the result of the coalition of NSB and SLB. Previously the SLB had a station in Plondingbury and NSB had a station on the site of the current one, although much less extravagant.

Nonham, the main junction on the NSB network was suffering from congestion after an increase in freight so a redesign was in order.

Paningwell was a nasty bottleneck. The steep grades and lots of single track meant that it was often a cause of jams particularily with slow freights. Before a rework.

After the rework (note the tunnels and the fact the line has been left as a stub for local trains from Heham.

Fledingstone.
When the NSB began to electrify it's main routes Fledingstone was regarded as a key location. The last major town before crossing over into SLB territory. It was decided the town needed an Intercity service but the existing station was not on the mainline and was in an awkward location for extension of the platforms and addition of extra platforms.
SCR47.png
SCR47.png (195.76 KiB) Viewed 971 times
Here is the new station on the mainline. Some expresses still pass through but some now stop. The old station is used for local services that run Nonham > Fledingstone > Fledingstone Central > Fledingstone > Nonham. In later years the branch line in the left of the shot would get diverted into a pair of platforms at the central station before continuing on to the old station in the town.

Yay! My life has meaning again!

Are you not afraid that you may have locked in Fledingstone to a degree where it won't really be able to expand much further?
Do you keep an eye on such situations when you're playing a game?

I rather enjoy the before-and-after screenshots of stations that are being redesigned. Especially Nonham and Fledingstone because they are such great examples of the power of conditional signalling.

And as I mentioned on IRC, the sawmill shot is rather funny because it looks as if the trains arrive from something like the channel tunnel but really the tunnel is only 3 tiles long :))

Keep it up!
As for requests, if there are any other situations where you've used conditional signalling for something awesome, I want to see it! :]

I did realise that this would be a problem. When I extended the station further I added some bridges to allow the town to expand beyond the railway to the North.

There will probably be a few more of these yet as there are a number of stations that need a rebuild because I built them so badly initially. ;)[/quote]

None as yet, those are the only ones. There will be a couple more though.
