ToyLand Graphics Conversion

The Toyland track and roads don't look good. They look like, well, toys, which isn't appropriate for East Asia.
I recommend that you copy the roads and tracks from the Temperate environment, and put them onto the appropriate grass backgrounds that Dinges got for us. There had been some thought of having new grass of a slightly darker, bluish hue, but that never really went anywhere. You could look at some pictures of Japan and China for ideas. I suppose I need to start an archive of Asian scenery, don't I.

oh please
I was refering to tiles 180 and 181. I am not going to touch on the roads right now. Just Track....

We had a talk about the rails. they shouldn't be as on the bridges I makecmd_srui wrote:I was refering to tiles 180 and 181. I am not going to touch on the roads right now. Just Track....
If you're done with the roads, you may send them to me so I can put em on the bridges.
Also I have a proposion for the monorail. Maybe if we do the rails above the train so it would hang below it. Maybe an suggestion?

Wow. What an awe-inspiring idea. This is so cool. I wish I'd thought of it.
It certainly would answer a lot of aggravating graphic issues we've had, such as the rail-road crossings.
I suppose there would be offset pylons, kind of like the ones that hold up the caternary on the electrified rail graphics, and which are always behind the trains, reaching over and holding the rail up from above.
The only trouble I would see are the bridges. The pylons holding up the monorail would look odd on top of an otherwise ordinary bridge. Is it possible for monorails to have their own bridges? Ideally a monorail bridge would simply have taller pylons that just stuck down into the water, grass, whatever. That's also realistic I think.

Most bridges (I'm saying not all), have 1 shared sprite and 1 separated sprite. Exept for the tubular which has a very strange graphical layout.krtaylor wrote:>> Maybe if we do the rails above the train so it would hang below it.

Of each railtype: 1 for the first part , 1 for the last part, 1 middle part.*
The same for all railtypes: 1 for the first part, 1 for the last part, 1 for the middle. Which 'hang' on the above parts. So it would be possible for this type (Just delete track below and make a rail on it. And it would fly above the water). And offcourse we could use our remaining girder (the cicrular ones). We could construct a monorail bridge from it. For Owen or Josef (or somebody else) to change the length of the bridge (as it spans over just two squires)

Maybe this is better:
(Pillars will be recolored, and the sides too and there will be pillars for the overhead wires.

Oh, that is really nice. I think the pillars look flat - not three-dimensional, though. Also they look like they are at the edge of the bridge, the photo has them centered. Maybe ading an angle to them to give them some depth. The bridge looks great.

You mean on the bridge? The color next to the rails? It can be changed, I think I will turn it a little darker (more grey) and make the rails brown (like here). And delete the crosties.SHADOW-XIII wrote:... really nice .... but this grey 'ballast' or something like this ... doesn't fit here .... but maybe it will fit when we see it with real tracks .... but now it doesn't ....Dinges wrote:Maybe this one?

I think the bridge is done, except perhaps for the approaches. Having the rails set into the concrete that way is not uncommon for high-speed lines.
