Generally within Europe, BA does one-way flights for half the price of the return so you're not being ripped off. I know that Barcelona is not near Buñol but it's the cheapest flight from a major BA airport :)
It also seems that you can do Barcelona - Heathrow on the 25th with BA for just €108. If you want to spend a couple of days in the UK, it would seem that that might be a good way of doing it. :)

... but if you want to check in a bag, you'll be adding nearly £20 to that. The BA flight, while to LHR rather than MAN, is £95 all-in. Guess it depends what else Thor-Rune may want to get up to in the UK as to what might be the best choice. ;)

:o I'd missed Monarch had joined the silliness of budget airline "charge you for everything they can separately"

I got my flight now straight madrid-manchester with Ryanair for €84 (because i feel lucky, or feel like a challange, or something like that :P), i'll be landing 18:25 the 26th. If some of you fine people would maybe have somwhere for me to sleep that night, it'd be greatly apreciated :)

When booking my train ticket, should I pay for the unlimited urban bus travel (£3.30) in Manchester, or should I pay for once I get there?

It'd be a good idea to check the restrictions, as there may well be some, before adding that. £3.30 seems A LOT as plusbus is usually only £1 extra. Also, Manchester does have 3 free minibus routes around the city centre- 2 serve Piccadilly, 1 serves Victoria, but none serve both (to avoid competing with Metrolink I assume).
I was social distancing before it was cool 8)

Last train journey I could be bothered to look up the headcode for: 04/02/2016, Mirfield to Batley, 2J34 1459 Huddersfield to Leeds, Northern Rail 144015

Plusbus starts from £1 but that's usually in small towns where you can't go far. In the Midlands (a huge bus-area) I believe it's at least £2.50. Usually these things are priced just a little bit less than the normal day tickets.

Depends if you think you're gonna take buses once you get there! If you don't think so, don't buy it :)

This is why I'm asking. I have no idea whether I'll be needing it. I have no idea how much we'll actually be moving around Manchester on the day. Waiting for divine intervention by the SROTU to impart an answer. :3

Well, my guess is currently as good as anyone's - it really just depends on what people will want to do on the day. I don't imagine we'll be doing that much in the way of travelling, personally, but you never know.

mmm, it'd be nice if there was some sort of quiz or even a competition (remember London?)... Not that I'm knocking the social side of the meet!

I do remember, but if we do have a quiz (which is a distinct possibility), then it is likely to take place in the pub or nearby surroundings. A competition of sorts... well, depends if anybody can come up with anything interesting, I suppose!
