I saw the irish trains the weekend just passed, and there are some that look like 313s, as well as the 323 lookalikes.

The LUAS is a pleasure to ride on.

I went to Dublin and we were staying in Tallaght, hence lots of LUAS trips, covering the red line all the way to Busáras and also the green line from St. Stephen's Green to Ranelagh.

the Red Line works until there is an event on at Croke Park, then you are stuck! trams were running to The Point only (i was after Connolly) and in the other direction to Heuston, and Busaras LUAS was closed for 3 hours too.

Are there any other stories of British MU classes being exported with their liveries intact? Interestingly enough the wiki page for the Class 141 reckons that Thailand and Malaysia also looked at the Class 141s.
Woah here's a better one: http://www.phantasrail.com/Iran/130%202 ... heranu.jpg

That is really really weird.

A little bit of Leyland in Terhan.

Hehe - they'd need wheel gauge adjustments for Malaysia though, and Malaysia in the end ended up with brand new electric stock that looked just like 323s! *cue Welshie rattling on about me and 323s again...*

That is just uncanny Jamie, were they built by Hunslet like the Thai 158s were built by BREL?

Oddly nope - built in South Africa I believe by a subsidiary of GE.

Now Thailand on the other hand, THESE units might look a little familiar!

note how those wingmirrors on the 141s make 'em look even more like the Leyland National buses they're based on... apparently they still have WYPTE Metro maps in the vestibules...

I remember when some executive from South Africa came to Derby to inspect the first completed Gautrain. He remarked that no train in the UK is possibly as beautiful as his Gautrain!

When we've got units that are semi-officially called "Uglys" then he might be onto something.

I don't think the gautrain looks that great - it has a massive lump growing on the front of it! The 180 looks quite good.

Gautrain looks like a 170 putting on some makeup and pretending to be an HST. But I like that...
