I went north with the intention of visiting Gordon Station, which not only has some nice buildings, and infrastructure, but also has some interesting pointwork. Met a really nice chap up at the ticket office, who was just standing around watching everyone get rained on, and we had a chat. I mentioned I was an enthusiast, and he offered to show me some of the old point levels and whatnot, that they still use at Gordon. I mentioned that I wanted to get permission to take photos first, and he said he would ask at the same time if I could photograph the point room.
When we approached the station manager, and I made my case, she just shook her head and told me I'd have to contact cityrails media department to get permission. I mentioned that they had given me permission to take personal photos at Chatswood (probably the station of choice for terrorists on the north shore line, as it's a very busy interchange), as well as Lindfield, and she still shook her head. The bloke I had been talking to tried to help convince her, but she wouldn't be swayed.
Now, it's not an offence to take photos on cityrail property, so long as I am not taking photos of people specifically. It's been brought up in parliament and everything, and it's been deemed legal. However, I do respect the station authorities, and left. I then called and lodged a complaint, so I'll have to see what cityrail has to say to ME of the matter - if they refuse, I'll simply contact my local member...
At any rate, I then alighted at Killara, and noticing nobody was around to ask permission from, I simply began taking photos (as I have said, it is not an offence, and I can cite a source - although, I'd have to find it

)
