Between Lünestadt and Friedberg, the countries capital, the track follows two big lakes. The northern one, the Lünesee, is completely surrounded by rail. The eastern route is considered the more scenic one, while the western route is lot faster. As
IC 137 Hanseat is an express train, it uses the western route.
- At Tonhorst we overhaul a local train pulled by a BR 140. The station is built to allow faster trains easy to pass. On the other side of the lake geography doesn't allow too big stations.

- A few kilometers after Tonhorst we pass Heildeldorf oilfield. Two BR 150 are waiting for load.

- In Bielehausen we meet F 177 Roland. It's the last high quality service in the country done by a steam loco and those engines shall soon be replaced by modern BR 216 diesel-engines.
