[OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Nice shots, your realistic networks approach is quite an inspiration.
With destination patch, how effectiv are these designs? The stations seem to be a bit crowded.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Yes, they are quite crowded; now I've just downloaded this patch to see if I can try to resolve this "problem", but in fact it isn't so important for me: notwithstanding that there are so much travellers waiting at stations, still I have various passive trains. As MR finances are quite poor, I had to axe some of the poorest services (for example, trains L680 and L000 have been combined in an unique service, labelled L603, from Sonningdon to Gennwell Town via Bondwell; L602 has been discontinued; F178 has been replaced by L780 Plenstable Central – Old Malden North – Tronpool; etc. Look at this map for reference)

Midland Railway needs your help
MR engineering department has just declared that the construction of a new high-speed section between Sundale Liverpool Street and Plenstable Central is too much complicated as it needs to realign all the existing tracks between the two cities with almost endless disruptions to the rail traffic. Can you find a good solution for this problem?
You can download the map from here. The MR management will be very grateful if you can accomplish this mission!

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Jimbow Engineering Inc. has this suggestion:
This will be quite expensive, as it require massive terraforming of the coastline!
The line is a bit longer than the present line, but this line connects directly to the high speed line towards Great Withdon Green ande Sonningdon.
So it's possible to have one long high speed line, where no slow local or freight services slows down the fast trains.
I know there could be a problem about the nice bridge in the bottom of the picture. Maybe a new bridge on tile higher could replace the existing bridge. Between the new and the old line, there is room for Plenstable and Old Oak to expand the cities.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
My idea is similar to the Jimbow's, but it is closer to the land and more reliant on bridges so requires less terraforming. The road bridge at the bottom is replaced with a land bridge at 1 tile height.
Colour codes:
Red = demolish
Yellow = plain track
Light blue = rail bridge
Dark Green = 1 tile height
Light Green = 2 tiles height
White-ish Green = 3 tiles height
Orange = Tunnel
Purple = New platforms (earthworks required)

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
I'm pleased to see three projects in few hours. Someone has asked a savegame to visit the site and make a better check of the elevations. Here is!
PS: in the meantime I've found enough money to complete the grade separation at Purhill Junction. But this has caused the closure of the rail spur to the farm; now grain and livestock are carried to Sundale by trucks, good news for passengers travelling into the HSTs as now they have less chance to be stuck behind a slow freight

Bay Minette 1911
Hi, I'm back. After I while I've started again to play at OTTD. My new game uses for the second time my scenario Bay Minette (the first time I played it I lost at some point the savegame
), available here to download. I this game I simulate under a single player the development of two main railroad companies (C&N, Central & Northen Railroad; BM, Bay Minette Railroad) together with a number of indipendent short lines.
Central & Northern Railroad
The first railroad company consolidated in Bay Minette region is the narrow gauge Central & Northern Railroad, with headquarters in Powder. The main traffic on the C&N is coal from the mines around Powder to the local power plant. Wood is also another important commodity, brought down from the forests to Madison Creek sawmill. At present the system is essentially a Y centered in Powder with the two short legs (Powder River Division) heading to Point Clear and Stockton while the long leg (Mountain Division) terminates in Sherman Hill. These two divisions are feeded by many branches and spurs linking other mines, logging camps and towns.

Bay Minette 1911
Bay Minette Railroad
The Bay Minette Railroad was consolidated six years later than the C&N. Headquarters are in Bay Minette. The first goal of the BM was to connect the hometown, that sits on an island, with the mainland. The project has been just completed and now the mainline ends in Bridgeport. Future plans include two divisions from Bridgeport, one northward, one westward.
West Oracle & Satsuma
At present there are three indipendent short lines. One of these is the West Oracle & Satsuma (WO&S) that runs on the north shore of the bay. Freight and passengers are connected to Bay Minette via ship services.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Bay Minette 1913
With the construction of the crossbay BM line heading east from Bay Minette, the little town of Benton earned a small passenger station. Citizens of the nearby town of Benton Harbor disliked that the railroad company had decided to avoid their town. Now, half of Benton Harbour population are petitioning the BM to build a branch from Biltmore (in black in the following screenshot); the other half is proposing in contrast a street railway from Benton (in red).
So, the ballot is open and you can vote for one of these projects simply posting a message here down: that one with more preferencies will be chosen and put into practice.
