Once the storage system is up, we could ask Crazy Vaclav if he could upload his models. (When he has the time). That way all that work wouldn't have been for nothing.

Ben_Robbins_ wrote:I spoke to egladil yesterday and he said that he could do the nessesery codeing (so that the graphics replacing the original ones could be displayed) in ''2 weeks''. I recon a month is a nice safe target to get the original set buildings all in there completed built state from at least 1 angle, and have all the viecles (asuming crazy comes back...!?)

The progress in here has slowed down a lot recently, (myself to blame also). I recon now there is a date, that everyone should try to get going again.

Sellu: You were awaiting some report on the coding side of it. Well I'm just passing on the message, but its some sort of target at least.

There are quite a few people that were very active at the start of this topic such as dmh_mac, dylan.farrow, burschik, meusH, gorre, StefSybo Berberjesus (later on) etc. Quite a few people have shown that they have the ability to model, but havnt stuck at it, so it would be cool to see some finished models from Killer 11, Cryingcorvus, sunnyboy, fieldmouse, prometeusz, biohazard etcetc. Basically theres many people around. Crazy should get his arse back in here also...preferably with all his graphics...<cracks whip>.

I'm just going to work down the building list in the wiki from top to bottom. If they have wip on them, but havnt been touched for ages and ages, then i think someone else should start. I'm making a start on the white cinima/theator building therefore. processor(POL) hasnt responded on the wiki as far as I no, so I recon they need to be redone. (bit blunt, but yeah).

Anyway, hope to see some new graphics shortly!
i do still read the thread but i have 1 big problem: im stuck with my Depot and i really dont get textures and whatever right, ill upload the plain blenders soon so someone can put some textures on them and maybe ill try to make it better after seeing that

aka you will hear more soon....

Another model. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, due to enter production next year. Had a little trouble with UV mapping to subsurfaces, so the window spacing is a little funny. Not sure how to correct it.

Shape is the most important thing, stuff like lights can be done later and with easy.

Yes. I hadn't yet discovered the diffuse reflection slider...

It's got the standard light setup linked to on the wiki. All I changed was the diffuse reflection of all the materials from 0.8 to 0.5.

Well, your model is very nice, of course, but, (my opinion) changing light settings which is common for dozens of other models is not very standard at all, so making your materials little bit darked should provide the same result.

Yes, thats what I did. The parameter is specific to each material and changes the amount of light reflected from a light source by the material. It has the same effect as reducing the brightness of the material colour. (Assuming the ambient reflection is changed as well)

EDIT: Now the ambient & diffuse (& reflection) values add up to 1. Which means that the material is realistic. Previously they added up to 1.6. Which meant that the materials were technically emitting light.

the aircraft looks very nice, but I am not sure if it is a trick of the perspective/light or the way it is drawn, but the wings seem to curve up far too much even for standard flight.

They rake back a lot as well. I copied the profile from this image.

Although they were a lot flatter on the schematics I was using. I assume that they are supposed to bend that much in flight.

wow just been looking at some images of the dreamliner through google search, and it does seem the wings do go back that far, and with that much curveture upwards.

Though I can see the advantages in fuel economy and stability, but man that must make maintence a nightmare, as well as putting a huge amount of stress on the wing joints.

I wonder if the wings not seperate entities at all, but are instead a single wing onto which the body is attached??

Surely the case with every aeroplane? The wings hang off the fuselage while stationary on the ground, and the fuselage hangs off the wing whilst in flight.

Wow! It looks A LOT better when u darkened it down a bit, now I can see the shape of it :) Looks really futuristic somehow, which is great, a REAL plane that looks futuristic in real life :D Gonna be nice to se the plane ingame with all the rotations!
Good work!! I dont really have much more to say, I have been looking at some google images of the plane and I cant come up with anything u´ve done wrong :) In my eyes your model is very realistic, using the google images as reference.
