Thanks to everyone involved!

459, should it be you who owns the GRFCrawler entry, or DaleStan?

The thread title is good. I don't think it needs to be sticky forever, but a couple of days won't hurt. I'd say, after Patchman accepts it for listing on his site in the official graphics list, we should un-sticky, if not before.

No bug reports yet at all? Superb coding work!

Well, I can give a "bug entry" for a start but I think it has more to do with TTDPatch itself. In one version, the Patch started to calculate plane cargo capacities differently, taking also the mail capacity into account. The figures that'd be obtained for cargo capacity wouldn't be very far off if mail wasn't taken into account. Since it's taken into account all other planes (the ones that can be fitted for pax) have kind of "relative capacity advantage" over Antonov An-124, the only plane in the set that can carry only cargo. Because of this calculation method both B747's can carry more cargo than An-124 which isn't how I've planned it.

I'd like if there was a switch to enable/disable this method of calculation. Apparently there isn't any switch for this in CFG file. If there was such a switch I'd encourage everyone to use the original TTD counting method that only takes pax into account. Of course, effects of this could have been alleviated if I wasn't so lazy not to implement the cargo capacity override in each plane.

I'll add GRFCrawler entries for both 1.0 and 459 Remix. In future I'll probably tweak the 459 remix and rename it to something like "Planeset - OpenTTD edition".

If it's possible, I think it would be better to have just one set, and add the switch.

It's not going to happen that way. There's already enough TTDPatch exclusive code in the official set that doesn't work in OpenTTD. And since the Remix is already done with OpenTTD in mind and it isn't in need of major overhaul it'd be easiest to just have two separate sets. Besides, integrating two different sets of airplanes in one GRF depending on execution platform sounds like plain waste of time.

OK. Would you like to post the OpenTTD remix here, and I'll put it on the official website? Is there a logo for OpenTTD?

OK, this is the latest (29/May/05) Planeset - The 459 Remix. If you wrote something like "Suitable for OpenTTD users" at your own discretion it'd be fine. I'm not sure when I'll do the renamed and tweaked version but when it'll be done "The 459 Remix" will be phased out.

Weird enough, The 459 Remix was initially a modified beta version that had placeholder planes added to the then-unused slots of official release that were at that time to receive Osprey, Chinook, Ruslan, airships, Shorts and S-58. As it doesn't have any OpenTTD-hostile code it seems to be destined as the OpenTTD version.

I have translated the readme file into German. Its still plain text because I want someone to read it first. I tried to translate it as good as possible but I am sure there are some errors in it.

Hi

Post by Monty »

I just downloaded the latest planeset grf and loaded into an already running game, in place of a former version.

Very strange things happened, planes got changed up and new planes appeared with wrong data, for example the A380 appeared in 1982 and said it was designed in 1935 and so on.

is it because i loaded it onto an existing game or is it a bug?

Thanks

Plane ID's got changed with this version. You'll have to start a new game.

Hmm...

All the images should be approximately centered. There shouldn't be out-of-playzone visible.

Well, I'll use these for now, and we can replace them with better ones as we go along.

I'm not sure about the 747, the proportions look odd. Are you sure that's the right one, or that we used the right sprites? I remember there being quite a bit of back-and-forth trying to get the shape right.
