Does someone here works with DCC? (Digital System)
I consindering to build my own decoders + other necessar stuff.
But the design of the whole system with these boosters I consinder as crap, so anyone useing a DCC based system an can say something about it?

my new model plant, which still exists on paper, will be DCC. A good friend use Intellibox from Uhlenbrock. I decided to use it too...
If you need a good forum for DCC informations, just take a look at the German digital forum of Eisenbahn Kurier: http://www.eisenbahn-kurier.de/foren/ph ... t.php?f=10
It's very usefull!

thx a lot, but it's not really good enough... There are a lot of things i would make different today. I've got the chance with the new model plant.Geo.c Ghost wrote:RAILMANGER, BLOODY HELL! THATS FANTASTIC![]()

how long did it take you to make that set?
It took a couple of weekends. The first part (central station and city) was made between december 1994 and february 1995. The second part (S-Bahn station, engine shed) was made between November 1996 and March 1997.

Thanks for your info Railmanager, I have a II Scale Model Train (LGB), most components need to be a bit bigger.. aka work with 10A 22V DC

Well okay, search in the EK Forum or ask there. There are enough experts, who may help you.eis_os wrote:Thanks for your info Railmanager, I have a II Scale Model Train (LGB), most components need to be a bit bigger.. aka work with 10A 22V DC
The old set takes place in a 4,5m x 3m room. For H0 you can say that this is really small. I tried to make the best out of it. Maybe you can see on the second picture that it is construated in "U-form". There are 2 yards in the underground (1 on each side) to turn off up to 11 trains.Geo.c Ghost wrote:is it a big layout, or a small one?
The new one will take place in the whole attic with 30m² square. I've got the layout on paper. Maybe you can imagine that it is really big.
The main station with 7 tracks will be 9m long (included turnouts and crossings on both sides). Passenger trains could be 3,3m long, and cargo trains up to 4,2m. I will also model a great engine shed with yard and a ore mine. Maybe i create a layout on PC in the next days...

Sweet! Same 'ere! the only difference being that I AM 13.Railmanager wrote:...I started with my model railway when i was 13...
After having to give all my aussie models back to a friend who lent them to me, I've decided to start a Santa Fe Freelance Railway, based on California

If you model a country station, it's really okay, but if you model a main station you need enough place, because it wouldn't look realistic if the platform can only fit less than 8 waggons.Geo.c Ghost wrote:some time small layout, look the best layoutsFor H0 you can say that this is really small
A ICE-T can stop at the new Main station. A ICE1 cannot, because i would need a 4,7m long platform (14 waggons and 2 engine cars).

My dad wants to build up a modelrailway when I go living for myself, so he has the space for it. He used to have a pretty big setup when I was little. But he sold it all.
He wants to start over with a smaller scale so you can put more track on the same space.
I might start my own rail in future, because I do like modelling. If I do I will probably use the smallest scale, because this way you can build huge railroads on the same ammount of space. You probably loose some detail, but I think its worth it.

The old one is a continuous loop with 2 tracks.Geo.c Ghost wrote:true, very true.
do you have like a continuous loop? or one end to the other?
if i ever get round to making this railway, im going to have a loop, and some shunting, end-to-end bits
The new one will have 2 (both with 2 tracks) continuous loops. Every loop will have a area to turn off a few trains (not a "fiddle yard", but a non visible area behind the tunnels).

If I would ever start a railroad, I would probably try to build an incredibly complex thing like I do in TTD
.
I think it looks cool..
I will definately have over 4 passenger trains and over 4 freight trains. And maybe make a city with a large station in it. Or build some track that exists in real, that would be cool too.

my mum and her bf are going to do penzance train station, and because they own a gallery (
The Penzance Art Gallery
) next to it, there going to put the gallery on there too
i was in charge of the design. i had a few where theres a building behind the station, and tracks go into it (Hidden) so it makes it a loop, but also you can fit more trains in, technecly!!!

I finally got some new stuff for my track, thou I have changed my design 4 times to get as much in as possible, also using a new design system.

Will put my designs up on my site then link to here to save space, plus I'm gonna make an area for them on my site anyway so it saves time
