You mean like Bopfingen or Regen? Well, first of all I'll never get to any other era as I always turn back time when reaching 1945, so that's no concern

, secondly since I'm playing at daylength (iirc) 4 they only effectively produce 1/4 the passengers they usually would, so a few buses already exhaust their sensible "passenger generation capacity", thirdly since scale isn't really coherent throughout OTTD these villages to me equal something probably below 100 inhabitants irl; and while some of those have rail connections, many don't, so it's pretty similar to how I perceive things out there (for example Lauchheim which isn't much bigger as seen in the last bunch of screens does have one of those really simple stops).
And of course there are cases like Bopfingen which might be close to rail, but that line is full of oil trains so I doubt even irl they'd just put a few passenger trains between all those freight trains. Admittedly I'm no expert on these things though, I usually just go by gut-feeling ^^
Lastly, screens are pretty selective, so I have really no idea whether the majority of ~1000 pop places have a rail connection or not; I suspect though most actually have one if close to a line, but they're probably not really interesting

Anyway, I'm currently reworking my supply chain for the first industries a bit and as a byproduct Schwandorf got a cargo tram all the way to Ellwangen. Can't imagine this being build like that historically, but I like how it looks, so whatever
