Actually a related issue (that of people actually living close to where they work, or working close to where they live) is often conveniently swept under the rug by middle-class environmental pressure groups, who would rather travel 60 miles each way in a train or hybrid car. I wonder why, hmmmm?

Wht do you mean, I can't live in France but work in York? It's perfectly environmentally sustainable, of course, because I take the train.
