Great. So now the rest of us look like a bunch of weirdos arguing with ourselves? :P haha

Personally, I'm just going to get to the point of literally laughing at him in topics. I already laugh at him behind the computer screen and a couple of times I did lose all seriousness with him to find humour in the situation instead. Though some weren't too happy with that and I can't understand why personally since we were going round in circles and getting irritated with the same things.

One thing that has crossed my mind is that there are a lot of split views over this. Some are very anti-Alan which I can understand having been involved with the topics. However some are defensive and state that he is being 'picked on' - though those people have not been involved with any of the topics usually and don't know why the situations have escalated.
One thing I'm sure no one wants is the community getting split in two or people leaving because they are fed up (like Jamie said in his post).
So can we please not let Alan fragment out community guys? Don't get annoyed at one another over this. We're a strong and long running community. None of us want to see that broken by some other person who isn't even interested in Transport Tycoon and such no doubt.
What's worse? Losing one member who irritates people, or losing respected members who are part of our community and have been for a number of years?

Let me just stress again, I'm not objecting to the presence of Alan per se, but rather his tendency to completely derail existing sensible topics into arguments about tax evasion. If we could limit all of his rantings, which can be entertaining, into a separate section, then we can continue as normal.

Indeed. It is even more confusing. It appears to be a bunch of guys arguing with a ghost named Alan...and I sit here and wonder why you guys get to be Derek Acorah and I don't. :-)

Hence why I propose splitting his rantings off into one thread, it's confusing having 3 similar discussions simultaneously with one person but in different threads and the cross referencing is bizarre. We should just write-off National Rail Shake Up and Rail Franchises, merge them and split of any derailments in to those threads.

Much as I abhor censorship, I do think it probably is about time we moved on. Most discussions with Alan are now like the most basic Hornby train set - they consist of perpetual tail chasing and never get anywhere.

I find this forum is a useful place to practice writing comment style writing - this will be much diminished if very good contributors like Jamie leave.

Seconded. I didn't like Jamie much to start with (I don't think he cared much for me either) but in my not humble opinion, I would be devastated if he left now.

Well sorry, but offence has been taken. This is a "discussion" forum. I am discussing with him.

I have already said what should be done, as Jamie is alluding to. Shaking the community up is one thing, but his attitude and his approach to the forums and those on it is detrimental to the continued success of this section.

You're damn right I'll tell him where he's wrong because, get this!, he's wrong!
Dave, I wasn't intending to offend you or Geo, though I can see where your coming from.

Yes, your right it is a "Discussion" Forum, however, the reason he posts these Crazy Ideas seems to be to get a Reaction off certain people (and also because he is a D*** Head), and that is what you are giving him, he wants you to think he is a Idiot, he wants you to shout at him (It is like me enjoying being hurt (don't as me Why!)) and ball say things along the Lines of this isn't possible because of *reason, reason, reason*, I could go on all day. He is being a jerk, and yes, you have every right to tell him he is wrong, but, don't lose it at him, and lets see, he'll probably concoct some even Crazier S***, in which case people will hopefully just ignore it, and have a Conversion/ Discussion around him.

My Apoligies for any offence caused.

I reiterate my original point. I go away for 2 days, and come back to have to spend a good half an hour trawling through pages and pages of attempts to try and get Alan to understand the most mundane points is fruitless.

Is there any point? It's almost always the same stuff over and over.
I was away for half a day and there was 3-4 new pages on one thread. Only had to read a few posts to see it was the same stuff pretty much.

Never said a lot of stuff wasn't from me :P During the day yesterday though, nothing was from me till the late afternoon ;)
Though to be fair, I think you, Ameecher and myself are pretty much on level terms for posting :P I alone certainly don't make up anywhere near half the count.
I agree with the welcome break bit. I do find it all quite funny.

To be fair to Alan, I don't think he's a bad guy.

He just doesn't fully understand much of what he's talking about but thinks he has better ideas. We've all met people like him (the sort of people that BBC Local Radio is aimed at, for example).

I don't think he's a bad guy as such either. Nor do I seriously dislike him.
I think he's a little bit... imaginative and unrealistic perhaps. But the things he says does indeed make me laugh.

Though I do think he is silly because of things he's done in the past such as asking on twitter for another website to be hacked because they banned him. That i thought was childish. But I don't class him as a 'bad person' or anything. :)

What's particularly frustrating is that the one thing that unites us (an interest in OTTD), he appears to have none of. He just seems to want an outlet for his crazy schemes, after being banned form RailChat or wherever it was.
