Notice which path signals are used.
How does this work with the depots? Wouldn't a platform be cleared for another train as soon as the first train has entered for servicing?
That is right. But then the train in the depot will reclaim the platform once the other train has left.

Each platform has a path signal (that can be passed from its backside). This prevents the train claiming a path beyond the platform during unloading/loading and allowing other trains to enter or exit.

The depots are placed at each platform because I found it is faster for the train to leave in and out than if the depot is connected on the main line and have to make a tight 90 degree turn (this 90 degree turn slows trains down).

Try it out. You'll see this setup works well.

In this setup of mine (using MagLev), I have 3 lines coming (which have bypass lines just outside of station to bypass the station). But to speed up the trains' exit proces I made two exits for the two of 3 line. So two trains leave at once..One may have to wait once as it tries to join the line.

This is what I usually have setup.

No problem. I should because the wiki and other articles didn't explain or show the signals in action to show. I am thinking about making a website for OpenTTD with tips and tricks at playing the game.

Hope it will make you make more money and less headaches. 8)
