After some searching, the thread is at http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=28069 . You know... with New Railtypes in OTTD, a full Aussie set with all 3 gauges and multiple dual/triple gauge is now a possibility...

Ahh, now I've seen it. Though its far outdated, would be nice to have a Australian rail set that includes narrow and broad gauage as well as standard gauge

As emails once again begin to pile up in my inbox, I must kindly remind the inhabitants of this forum that the New South Wales Rail Set is not dead. Simply laying low.

I like the look of the rails with the landscape. I wish I could have that Australian landscape...

Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set
Nice work on the tracks is very well done. Its would be nice if there would be graphics city (buildings, houses ...) the same kind as the rails, it would be super realistic
Sorry for the inconsistencies of my messages, but im French
Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set
Thanks. They're the work of coalroads_artist. The eventual idea is to indeed make it an entire landscape replacement set, but the graphics with which to do that are limited at best. We've basically only gotten the landscape itself with a few assorted buildings. One day, though!Digitals wrote:Nice work on the tracks is very well done. Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set
Wow great work Lachie! I thought the NSWR set was dead! Good to be reminded of what it could look like
That's a 40 class in the bottom pic aye? If I was to get around to it, the tracks would be upgraded to more fine scale ones, like I use with my U.S game as I like the look but maybe it could be an option as I could fix it up easily. Very tempting even though I have a busy life now..... Here's a reminder for those who haven't looked in the old threads of the two buildings done for the old Ausset.

I must say, I thought you were dead myself. Good to see you're still alivecoalroads artist wrote:Wow great work Lachie! I thought the NSWR set was dead!

That is indeed a 40-Class, courtesy of DanMacK. It's one of the more recent additions to the set. He's also contributed a 41-Class which is yet to be coded. Thank you DanMacK!
For anyone after a more specific snapshot of what is going on in the coding of the set, I'm currently working with some of the OpenTTD Devs to take advantage of some of the new OpenTTD features in the set. Code is still being optimised, and I'm not looking at adding any more content until I'm happy with the state of the pre-existing code.

Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set
Just to update, over the past couple of days, OpenTTD compatibility has been greatly improved. The NSWRS now possesses an Action14, and as of today the handling of vehicle flipping in the depot (which the OpenTTD devs broke fixed) is now correct.

Wow. I can't wait for this new landscape to be available

Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set
Yeah, coalroads has definitely done a great job working on it. Definitely should see a release in the new year.
As for general progress on the set, as of about two weeks ago I've moved house and have had limited access to the time required to work on the set. Over the next few weeks worth should be resuming.

Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set
Just an update for those who are still watching out for this set.
As you all know it's been too long since we at the Australian Set Team have released a new edition. This is due to a number of factors. The last version of the Australian Standard Gauge Set Taster, the predecessor to the NSW Rail Set. But it was exactly that, a taster, and not in any way, shape or form designed to be used a final version of the set.
While this might have years ago, development has always continued on the set. When GRFMaker, the program I was using at the time, became outdated and redundant, I output all of my work to raw NFO and began work on the set in this fashion. This gave me a much easier way to code in retrospect, and allowed more advanced features to be implemented, beyond the powers of the program I previously used to do the work for me.
But by converting the work over there's been many things left in the code that shouldn't have been there. At last count there were over 60 errors in the coding of the GRF, and these things take time to fix that could be spent on valuable new features and new locomotives.
There's also the issue that when I first began work on the set, "forwards compatibility" wasn't a term that meant anything to me. Therefore, it's increasingly more difficult to add new features into the code.
With all said and done, I've decided to completely restart coding of the set. I plan to utilise the new NML language being developed to do this.
What this means is that it'll be a little while longer before any release will be seen for the set, but the end product will be something that will be far more polished, and will be something that you as the end users will be able to enjoy so much more than in the code's current version.
I've been liaising regularly with Raichase on some exciting new developments, and I hope to be able to announce these new plans very soon.

Re: [OTTD]New South Wales Rail Set - Development Restarted
That sounds like a good idea Lachie, going with NML might make things a little easier. I hope this plan bears fruit because I'd love to play with an Australian or NSWGR trainset
