The idea of including my list was merely to avoid problems occuring after its release, such as 'why doesn't mine look like your screenshots' and 'how do i get those trees/roads/buildings etc'. I'm sure most people wouldn't think 'oh well in order to make my scenario the best i have to use the EXACT version of all of his grf files'. All in all a pretty useless comment.I think any *ideal* NewGRF list would not use a version of the 2ccset that is around half a year old.

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 imminent!)
If you include the grf in your scenario, openttd will try to load the same, buggy version, which you do not want.jake.grimshaw wrote:...I think any *ideal* NewGRF list would not use a version of the 2ccset that is around half a year old.
If you do not include it in your scenario, it will be impossible to load it correctly afterwards. (All prices will be way off)
Assuming you want to avoid the latter. I presumed that you would be doing the former. In that case, the version you use definitely matters.
Anyways, it is your scenario and you are fully allowed to choose whatever grfs you desire.

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
I am having quite a major problem with it. All of the towns, well most anyway, have a rating so poor that it is unable to build anything. I don't suppose anyone with more knowledge than myself has any idea on how that could be solved ?

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
I´m afraid I don´t understand. If you post here a scenario (that means without any companies at all), then there´s no rating... However, in game, you can improve the tolerance in settings (set the cities´ authorities "permissive")

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
There is a very awkward situation here. Basically, as I have switched between scenario editor (.scn) and the gameplay (.sav), there is now a default company that was me when i was playing. When someone else downloads the scenario, they play as this original player. Thus, for some unknown reason, all of the towns now hate the default player (which is particularly unfair considering I created them all
) Therefore, I am wondering if there is a way, possibly through opening the command window, that all ratings with towns can be reset ?

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
What about switching back to scenario before playing? I´m sorry, maybe I´m too tired, but I still don´t understand it
sorry... But what you can do is bribe and bribe and bribe

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
I am hoping that i don't have to resort to Bribe Bribe Bribe quite yet
. Sorry I haven't explained it very well. The scenario will be released as a .SCN file. So when you have downloaded it, and put it wherever you keep your scenario's and play it, you start as the company that I had in my .SAV file, because that is in essence what it still is. I have even confused myself trying to write this, so if anyone reading can explain it any better than I have.. then go ahead !

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
Okay, I've tested this theory and it works, although it's dog slow:
You probably already know that planting trees increases your local authority rating, so:
1. Plant trees around your problem towns. You should only be aiming for a 'Good' rating.
2. Save the game (.sav) file and abandon the game.
3. using your file manager copy the .sav file from your saves directory to your scenarios directory and rename to .scn (I assume you're familiar with this)
4. Load the .scn in the scenario editor and demolish the trees (including any you've just planted) around the problem towns. This won't count against Player 1's local authority rating.
5. Copy the .scn back to a .sav file.
6. Plant trees...
Repeat until your eyes bleed. Sorry it's not a very elegant solution.
Btw, if it's easier you could always delete each town in the scenario editor and replace it. This would destroy any industries and temporarily orphan any stations. I don't know if this would cause long term problems, but any station inside the local authority area of the new town you create would at least inherit the name of the new parent town. The side effect of this approach is that your company will have NO rating with the new towns you create.

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
This is, in essence, my problem. I do not have a bad rating with the towns, just no rating at all. I am unsure as to whether the planting trees will work, but I will have to dig this scenario back out to test. Oh, and deleting each town really isn't an option, as there is probably 2500+ towns. I think i may just have to release this, and just say that you have to use the money cheat to bribe until I have found another fix for it. But square_monkey, thanks for your inputThe side effect of this approach is that your company will have NO rating with the new towns you create.

Re: [OTTD] Switzerland and Italy (v1.0 being tested)
You're welcome. To be honest, I was just hoping you hadn't given up because your scenario looks interesting
There won't be a problem with having no rating, because as soon as the player builds something the rating will become 'Good'. It might be a little bit odd having no rating , but it won't affect gameplay like having a negative rating would. Planting trees will definitely work if it's done the way I described it (in the game, not the editor), even if your company has no rating yet. Just planting trees is an action the local authority recognises, but it all depends on how many of the 2500 towns you'd need to plant trees near. It could be worse than the deleting approach.
If the towns have no rating I'd say the best option is to leave that aspect as it is - I don't think you'll have a problem.

Well, I decided to put you all out of your misery. The scenario can be found at the top of the first page. When the inevitable complaints begin to arrive, I pray you read the topic first (it's only two pages) to see if your question/complaint has been covered. If not, fire away and I shall do my best

Every year I go to Grächen, Wallis, and I am astonished about the detail of this scenario. Even the tunnel from the Rhone valley to Stalden is in the scenario!
