With talent on loan from God, brilliant engineers like David Wardale are working tirelessly on your behalf. They just need your support. Write to your Congressman- er, MP- and DEMAND that they support this noble project. No American- er, Briton- should ever again be forced to ride behind a Class 67 on a pleasure excursion, unless that's what they paid for. And we shouldn't "use up" rare and valuable historic locomotives in revenue service.

Lol, I think his point was that there are people out there sad enough to pay to go on a class 67 hauled 'pleasure excursion.'

Myself I spent 4 hours on a DMU tumbling through the Aussie bush today, at 30mph on a single track line. A dubious pleasure.

All i know is it was an aweful thing to pull a passenger train. Dirty, ugly and noisy.

That's what people said about steam before the modernisation programme.

There was a Kings Cross to Carlisle railtour running Saturday morning top and tailed with Class 67s, bet that,s what you saw.

I saw that. I did wonder what on Earth it was doing there. A couple of Mk 1 cars, an inordinate number of old restaurant cars, a kitchen car and perhaps a mail van of some kind. Looked like a rag-tag fleet fleeing from Cylon tyranny. No passengers, but lots of staff laying cutlery on tables.
