You would almost have to come up with a mod to add a 4th power type that could be installed into both overhead and 3rd rail configuations.

Well I think it can be done more simply than that I think if we get a train to Require 3rd rail or Overhead there shouldn't need a problem as long as there is an area were there is both and the power can switch (at a station) a bit like farrendon.

WRONG!!!! The only reason why SWT numbered their units as 4xx, instead of 3xx, is that they have no intention to convert their units into 25kv operation. SWT doesn't NEED any trains with the pantographs, and so they don't HAVE pantographs. This is why the Class 458's are numbered as 4xx's, not 334, or anything else. They do have pantograph wells, because, if they are ever handed back to the TLC's, then they can add pantographs, and send them elsewhere, this feature may soon prove very valuable, since SWT wants to get rid of the 30 weak Juniper units, and hand them back to the TLC's. Quite simply, because of their reliablity.

Eurostar, which has collecting shoes for the 3rd lines into Waterloo, a main panto for the OHLE used in the UK and France, and a secondary panto for the DC OHLE in Belgium. In the cab, there's a little knob to twiddle to decide whether to use one of the pantos or to pull out the shoegear.
The Eurostar actually has up Five Power settings, 3rd Rail DC for the UK, 25kv for the UK, CTRL, and LGV Lines, 25kv for the Chunnel (The OLE is higher than normal due to the Le Shuttle Trains), 15kv for the non-LGV lines in France and Belgium, and I believe another 20kv for somewhere else, however they only have a maximum of four settings, with 3rd Rail 750v and 25kv Overhead being the standard in all of them.
WRONG again, this is a list of supported voltages
  • 25kv AC for the French high speed lines, Eurotunnel and Channel Tunnel Rail link, with a power limit of 12,200kW
  • 25kv AC for the French and British domestic lines with a power limit of 7,000kW
  • 3kv DC for all Belgum lines, with a power limit of 5,700kW
  • 1.5kV DC for the French Alps (On some Eurostars) with a power limit of 4,800kW
  • and last but not least, my local and favorite system, the Southern Reigon (BR) 3rd Rail System with a power limit of 3,400kW
Extract from Modern Railways, October 2003, page 57
No mention of 20kv systems anyway

But isnt that the problem? The game might not have been designed for an OR possibility. If it was we just havent found it yet. The game was rushed in some respects so if it was programmed in then it was probably disabled until/if he added an expansion pack with more locos. As it stands without any locos that can do this then it probably would be more difficult.
