[TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Screenshots
Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Ameecher, cheers mate!
You inspired me to play a DB-set game again, lately I have mostly played with the UKRS but these screenies look so damn nice!

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
No problem Vloris, glad you like them
Now then, it all got rather busy to the south of the 4 track mainline because there were the same number of trains, just on two tracks instead. So that needed quadrupling too.
1) Pendinghall with the 4 track entrance, the mainline from Farfingbourne has also been electrified spelling the end to long distance diesel hauled trains to this location. Pictured are a BR120 on a Schnellzug to Prunbury, a BR103 with a semi-fast service to Prunbury calling at Cunnway only. 2) Plonnpool, the tunnels got opened out when the line was quadrupled and the branch line to Tedborough severed. The factory sidings were also moved down the slope to avoid steep grades for the heavy steel trains. 3) Little Prenpool Junction. To the left is Frafingbourne, to the right is Drindinghall and off the bottom is Pendinghall. 3 BR614s are on a stopping service from Farfingbourne to Drindinghall take the Drindinghall line just behind a BR181 on a Pendinghall to Drindinghall direct.

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
They've still got a station, what more do they want?
All I can say really is thank god for PBS. The top right line is the fast route to Farfingbourne, top left is the slow route to Farfingbourne. 2 BR250s are seen with iron ore trains as a BR103 to Pendinghall streaks through. This junction, remarkably, works very well. I couldn't fit 4 tracks in this little bit so 2 have to do, it isn't that bad though because it's only a short section.

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Final shots from this game, 1993, 93 trains and £291m in the bank. Not bad eh? Oh and not a single cloverleaf or maglev to be seen
1) Prunbury got a bit overwhelmed by passengers so an extra platform was added to the mainline station and the original first service to Retbourne was extended to Leburg and operated as a metro system. The platforms at the main station were lengthened to accomodate 11 coach trains, the first of which can be seen exiting the depot at Prunbury, hauled by a BR120 and Intercity stock in the late 80s colours. 2) The Goods trains from Tedworth factory were upgraded, the old stock on these trains that was limited to 50mph was hindering trains on the mainline. So two rakes of Car transporter wagons were purchased, initially hauled by BR181s and later more suitable BR112s with the 181s transferring to passenger routes. A northbound goods is seen climbing into Fort Brinfingford from Mardhead Cross as one of the last remaining BR103s glides down the slope towards Pendinghall. 3) Finally the map, with the trains indicator on so you can see where the busy points are
Save game will be in the next post.

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Well I have to say most of that map is nuts, but it sure is fun to watch!
What will the next game be?
ps. You had a LOT of lost trains!!

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Yeah I'm going to turn off that feature for the next game, myself. Or at the very least move the minimum days without reaching a station for a train to be lost to something like 2 years
I've had trains rolling into their destination, and 2 cells before getting there, TTDPatch concludes that the train must be lost because it's taking so long >_>

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Haha, OpenTTD only gives the train is lost message when it is actually lost and cannot find a path to its destination. Hurray for pathfinders that arent limited by the maximum amount of tiles they can look forward

No idea what my next game will be, probably another DBSet one because they're rather fun.
The reason there are a lot of trains is that at Farfingbourne bridge a train had gone the wrong way and had stopped at a signal and removed to go anywhere with a big stack of trains behind it. I told the train to move but didn't wait for the backlog to clear before saving and posting

For GoneWacko, it was train 30 AGAIN!

Fantastic shots fella!

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Thanks folks, might try and get another game underway before I go on holiday but not sure about that. As I'm on holiday until the 2nd of September this thread will probably sink down a few pages. Unless TTDP players want to take shots from the save game and show the people who can't download the save

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
It's not like new threads are being posted that often hereAmeecher wrote:this thread will probably sink down a few pages

Enjoy the holidays and be sure to be inspired for your next game

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
I'm going to france, french railways by general definition seem to be quite dull.
nb: any french here? I'm sorry.

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Return from holiday and find everyone has gone screenshot crazy and I'm close to being shunted of page 1. Time to rectify that.
New Game, DBSetXL again, this time with the Arctic Climate. It's tough initially because all the fast engines are underpowered and all the powerful engines are slow resulting in a contour hugging mainline that sticks to the bottom of valleys and a number of branches off it to small alpine hamlets.
1) There comes a point where the contouring hugging mainline has to climb quite steeply, this is the solution. An express, A BR38 descends the spiral. 2) An iron ore mine seemed ideally located on the map, just a few tiles away from my mainline. Look at it properly and I realise that those few tiles are a ruddy great hill... The line was electrified because steamers just can't cope with such steep grades and haul a 100+ tonnes of iron ore too. 3) The iron ore train negotiates the main junction. Most trains route into Slendtown and a BR38 with brand new mainline coaches is seen exiting the station. One passenger train does use the avoiding line though.

Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
4) Grinnville is the main town on the map and is fairly rare because it is beneath the snow line all year round. The branch line electric train crawls out of the south facing platforms while an express BR38 heads north.
5) Where all the iron ore goes to and the steel, just need to find somewhere that accepts goods and be able to afford a suitable train to get there.
6) Map as of 1927, started in 1923. The line to Praningpool is near to completion but the onset of winter and the current tight financial situation has prevented the line reaching there yet.
Re: [TTDP] Ameecher's Screenshots
Nice shots as always Ameecher. Shame you dont use German nameas or something (Although if you are like me you only think of that after you've started a map. Doh!)
Also, dont you like to use the tunnels that match the foundations? Or are you using an old BK Tunnel version?

Yeah I set it to German, started a random game, didn't like it so started another but forgot to change to german names. Ah well.Ben_K wrote:Nice shots as always Ameecher. As for the tunnels, I'm not a fan of the wood faced ones, I might try the brick but the concrete fits best in my opinion.
