Mr. Geo.c Ghost;
Thanks for 'dropping by', my Friend. It made me want to do another night scene,
which you are so good at. Here's one from my Save Game I'm currently playing.
It's from the latest scenario "
Luck of the Irish". Hope you like it.
Always,
Jim Powers
p.s. You posted on my birthday!

THat's some really impressive stuff there Jim
I havn't done a night shot for years.
Was working on a big one once, but it got a bit annoying after a while because it was taking so long.
Your one looks really good though. Nice work
I can't remember when I last played TTD. I always look at people's screenshots and things, but I honestly cannot remember when I last played it.
Maybe i'll get back into it after i'm back from Norway and play some of your fantastic maps
Best regards,

Mr. Geo.c Ghost;
Sorry, Big Guy, about being slow getting back to you. I've been busy trying to get ready
to relocate, so, my time's been curtailed somewhat. You've been to Norway, eh? Bet it's
cold this time of the year. One thing I remember about the Norden area, is their very
beautiful women.
Somehow, I've never lost interest in
TTD, nor do I think I ever will. There are just so
many strategic ways to play The Game, that only one's imagination would limit him/her
game play. I don't think I've ever had a fascination with anything like I've had with
TTD.
My wife thinks I'm an addict, ha!
BTW, one of my scenarios,
"Extreme Cities", has been downloaded over 5,000 times!
I've just crossed the 40,000 mark on total downloads of my scenarios on
TT-Forums ,
Mr. Oleg's Russian web site, and Mr. Krtaylor's web site
http://www.as-st.com/ttd/
I feel like this is a big accomplishment, though without all the help from my
TT-Forums
friends, it wouldn't have happened. So, I realize that I'm only a small part of something
quite good. Thank You All!
Always,
Jim Powers

Cold? That's an understatment
One night it was about -22'C when we were out, and one day it was -17'C.
Lovely though. Nothern lights, loads of snow, etc
My girlfriend lives there and one of my best mates so got to see them. And you're very correct about the beautiful women
And one of them is mine hehe
5,000 times ay? You have many many fans Jim. We all love you

Mr. SHADOW-XIII;
I know you're a busy man and I've not heard from you since I made "Illustrious Italy".
But, I've got a question. I've been using your "Graphics Manager" (since Andrez's
Configurator wouldn't work in my computer any more), and I like it a lot. I have 2.1 version.
Is there a newer version? I went to the listed web page but, it doesn't seem to work.
So, I thought I'd ask, if you're available.
I've appreciated all your contributions to TTD. We need more guys like you, Sir.
BTW, I've just got the "River" feature working. Wow! I like it. Now, I just need
to find time to make scenarios with this great grf.
Mr. Richard C., you are a good guy. Thanks!
Always,
Jim Powers

Hello Mr. Jim Powers,
I haven't been visiting this forum for quite a while and I'm very glad to see you are still here and continue making wonderful scenarious.
Again, I'm tempted to play TTD and again I'll have to remember the old tricks for making your scenarios work on Open TTD (I've just got used to it and prefer to play it instead of TTD patch that I have been playing a lot in the past).
Thank you for making all this for us and keep up the good work.

Heh, congrats on your TT-Forums anniversary, Jim. How many years has it been? Five?
It's been a long time since I've seen one of your famous symmetrical maps. Nothing like making a big huge network, just because.
I'm here, as always, just busy with school, medical problems, and I'm moving back to Canada in June. Weird, eh?
Wait, I think it's my TT-Forums anniversary as well. Funny coincidence.
Yours,
RPharazon

Hello again good Sirs,
scenarios having NewGRFs are always trouble and it seems mr. Jim Powers is useing some new GRF files since the last scenarious I've been playing so If someone can help a bit with identifying the necessary NewGRFs I'll appreciate it and I'm sure more people might also use this help.
My first goal is
Plain Game.
There is
newgrf.cfg file in there.
I've managed to identify most if not all of the used newGRFs, but I don't seem to be able to find where all the industries come from.
In a
post a bit later Mr. Powers mentioned the use of "Mr. Pikkabird's latest industries", but in the posted newgrf.cfg file they are not present. I've tried using them but the industries does look messed up, I've also tried the all around used new cargo set, but it seems to not fit well because in the scenario there are several industries that look weird. I can easily replace some of the industries with another ones with the editor, but definitely the whole charm of a scenario is to play it exactly as the author has designed it. The problem is I can't identify in which of those GRFs industries are. Unless they are in newcargosw.grf it doesn't seem that there are any industries in the other GRFs - they mostly contain vehicles and train sets.
I've noticed a slightly different Cargo GRF file: newcargo
sw.grf which has an extra "S" in the filename unlike the standard one. I've been trying to track that GRF down in the appropriate
topic.
Maybe Mr. Powers will be able to attach this GRF to his post so we check and see if it is the key to making those industries work?
EDIT: No matter the posted above newgrf.cfg file the scenario uses PBI and birck chian that can be found on GRFCrawler, but I wan't able to make it load properly even in TTDP. The PBI NEwGRF would give me some conflict errors when loading with the scenario, even if it works fine when starting a new game. Maybe some other cargo/industry related GRFs are needed, but I couldn't find which ones. So it seems the best approach would be to mark and replace each industry, but I'm still not sure that I can identify all the industries.

Mr. Ar4i;
Well, I'm happy to see you like my scenarios, Sir. It's so very kind of you and others
to take the time to say so. I do appreciate it so much, Sir.
Mr. RPharazon, What's cookin', Big Guy? I had to look to see when it was. Looks like I posted
my 1st post Nov 30, 2003, so it's been almost 5 years that the good folks at TT-Forums
have let me stay around. So, you go to Canada, remember "
Amazing Alberta"? I really enjoyed
playing that scenario. So, you move in June, and I move the end of May.
BTW, I'm testing "
Totally Texas II" using those new wonderful building with 'dirt' roads
and also using the 'river' feature. Makes some great game plays. The good thing about
the 'river' is that it will let you put a dock in the river and with the water locks, you
sail off into the ocean. All you wonderful guys who contributed to this 'new-found fun',
a hearty
THANK YOU! (That means you too, Mr. KRTaylor.) love ya!
Oh,
Mr. Ar4i, I got most of the new grfs from GRF Crawler. I've always liked "
Plain Game".
It's a great scenario with 'the basics' combined with the latest features, at that time.
I'm having to all the time change my grf and config files, to keep up with all the latest
'goodies' these 'grf pros' are producing. This is what keeps this game fresh and addictive.
Thanks Guys!
Always,
Jim Powers

Jim's Early NYC Scenario
Posted: 15 Apr 2008 16:36
by Jim Powers
Mr. Richard.C;
Yeh, I really like the river grf! Makes the landscape so natural. I've revamped my Texas
scenario. The thing I like also in this last version (1857) is the seemly unlimited
amount of tiles to build your RR stations, or whatever, so, I have [2] areas of [24] Oil Wells
and don't want to stop playing the dang game. Huge fun! As I said before, all my spare time is
taken playing TTD.
Now, today I spent revamping my NYC scenario. My car was in the garage, so I stayed
home and Revised 'Jim's NYC' scenario. It will be called "
Jim's Early NYC". The best
part of this is,
I have just made the largest city in TTD history!
Population 2,486,581!
Not quite two and a half million people. And,
I populated it in the year 1940!
Will try to post it and "
Totally Texas II" this week. Here's a screenie.
Always,
Jim Powers
Record city update

Dear Members & Guests;
I apologize for posting back to back posts, but, I wanted to give those interested an
up date on my record breaking largest city. (If you all don't mind.) I put this in the
'Screenshot' section for those who might not see it here in my topic.
"
I've just completed making the largest city in TTD History.
One city population 2,531,006!
Over 2 1/2 million people in one city! Set in the year 1940.
This is milestone for all those who like to make large cities.
I'll be posting this scenario, which is called "
Jim's Early NYC" shortly.
I love the guy who created those great buildings and NA roads. He's the genius.
I had to remove all the buildings so that the '30's and 40's buildings would be featured.
This time I used the 'parquet' design to get the maximum population results. It worked,
(Thank God.) Anyway here's the population screen shot.
Always,
Jim Powers

Glad to hear you like the set, but I'd like to mention that we went a little bit over the top with the population creation for those nice buildings. The next update will see them adjusted downwards as they are at least double compared to the TTD 'original' buildings.

You'd be thanking Oz and lifeblood ...

Mr. Owen Rudge;
Thanks for the encourement, my good 'Boss'!
Mr. Oz and Mr. Lifeblood, I certainly do thank you for the NaCity and NaRoads!
Though I was only a small boy (born 1944) in 'the forties', I can relate very much to the
dusty, dirt roads in and around the country towns of the Midwest. And seeing the city with
the brick pavement was always amazing. And to stare up at the tall buildings of that day.
Unforgettable. That's why I wanted to make a large city with those buildings, and I did it in
"
Jim's Early NYC".
Personally, I wished you'd let the buildings be as they are. But, you men are the ones for
that decision. If you do bring the number of people down per building, I would then
have to go to a much later date and 'redo' (replace) the buldings, which I don't mind doing,
but, it just wouldn't look the same, that's all. But, anyway, I put the perimeters for eternal
paved/dirt roads because thay are so beautiful.
I'm going for a short vacation to Turkey, so I'll be posting "
Jim's Early NYC"
and "
Totally Texas II" when I get back. Then the end of May, we move to
Key West, Florida. Again, thanks so much for the grfs.
Always,
Jim Powers

Dear TTD Fans;
Seems like the testing of my scenario "Jim's Early NYC" is complete.
So, with the 1940 setting, here's the largest city in TTD history, "Jim's Early NYC"!
With one city of over 2,500,000 people. The best thing to do is NOT get those city fathers
angry. Ouch! This should be a super challange in at first say running a bussing and mail
delivery route, then, as
the population drops, start up a RR or subway line to transport all those passengers and
all that mail. Then maybe a couple of airports..... The list grows as you progress, or, you
go 'BR' and that's bad. Anyway, you work out the details with a lot of fun trying to be a
Transport Tycoon in "Jim's Early NYC"!
Meanwhile, enjoy those grand highrise buildings and brick paved or even the dusty
'washboard' dirt roads that were so privalent in those days. Good Luck!
Always,
Jim Powers

Mr. Raichase;
Wow, that was quick, my wonderful Buddy! I posted "
Jim's Early NYC"
on Apr 30, 2008 at 3:14 pm, and early Friday morning, you already had
it listed (in Page #1 Scenario List). Now, Sir, that's fast and I'm ever grateful.
Thanks for doing this and, as I just read from your Topic "
Raichase's Official Screenshot",
you seem to be on such a busy schedule too. So,
double thanks.

Without trying to sound falsely modest, it's no trouble at all. It takes a few seconds of time, and helps out both yourself, and those that look to download the scenarios

. After you've gone to all the hours of work it takes to make a new scenario, what's a few seconds to link to it on your behalf

.
Thankyou for your kind words Jim, not many folks would take the time

Here are some screenies of
Mid Central roads and rails scenario, I've been playing for some time. The towns grew pretty big, especially with those US buildings that boosted the population like crazy. The space has bacame very scare thus providing some challenge for making an efficient rail network.
First screen shows one of the busiest places on the map where the lines for coal, wood, paper and even some wheat and liverstock would join in a pretty tight space.
The second shot shows the mountains north of Grandrapids where the coal and wood is located.
The last screenshot shows the map and the company overview.
