Rationalisation And Modernisation In Redland & Ardeé:

Redland and Ardeé are two islands, one about the size of Wales & the other the size of the Isle Of Wight, and are territories of the UK and France respectively. Both had rail systems spring up at the turn of the 20th century, and while Ardeé pushed ahead with modernising it's system fairly early on (during and directly after WW2,) Redland held on to Steam technology until well into the 60's. However, it could not last, and from 1965, a 15 year plan was laid out to close unprofitable rural routes and modernise services (sound farmiliar? ) sao that by 1980 the nation would have a rail system for the modern world.

However, steam would survive on freight duties until well into the 90's.

Here's some screenies of that process. If you're intrigued, i've got a good 200 more pics of this game alone

Especially the bocage-like green zones. How did you do them. Is there an add-on for them somewhere.

Vineyard! Thanks. I have not played with them on any map yet. Will only add them for cosmetic reasons. But it will cost one of the 16 industry-slots.

I've started playing Locomotion again recently, and I'd forgotten how addictive it was. Here's some pics from my East Anglia game that I've been playing.

I've been playing a modified version of the East Riding of Yorkshire scenario where it starts in 1980.

First pic: York station, where a Pacer leaves on a York-Knaresborough stopper as a Deltic waits with a service to Doncaster.

Second pic: Two 4-car Pacers pass on the Knaresborough line between Harrogate and Ulleskelf.

Third pic: An APT-P and an HST pass south of Selby.

More pics of that game.

Fourth pic: A Deltic leaves Doncaster heading North to York, while an APT-P arrives at Doncaster from Thirsk.

Last Pic: The current state of the Knaresborough line. It used to run through Ulleskelf and Harrogate to terminate at Knaresborough as a single line from York High Level with a single Pacer, then was double tracked with 2 4-car Pacers, and now is a full circular with it's own underground platforms, running with 2 4-car 150s.

is it just me or is your grass greener?
May the force be with you.
For little boys, three things reign as supreme attention-keepers: tanks, heavy construction equipment, and trains, we all know why where here.

Some really nice shots there.

DJC - I too was surprised to discover all over again how addictive it can be.

LaSeandre, good to see someone else's go at that scenario!

to rdrdrdrd: its not just you. i think it was selenquell that made a greener grass mod.

i've made a little story:

Welcome to Cambridge Racetrack, today we have the Ford Team in front, in 2nd row we have Team Porsche, and in 3rd row we have the Gulf Team.
Image

After 15th lap we have the Gulf Team in 1st place after a magnificent start.
Image

Huuuge crash after 17th lap, the crashed cars is blocking for the other cars. There is only 2 laps left now.
Image

After the crash the Ford Team made a great comeback and they're the winners with the Porsche Team right behind them.
