RE: Farm Stations...
It is a copy-paste work, I'm very sorry I didn't listen to Raven and Saskia sooner... I guess I was sick of seeing people badmouth contributers, that I missed something bad going down...
Take a good long look people... I'm glad Michael brought this to my attention... It's all bad

Well, following some new evidence from MB, it is a little distrubing... having had a closer look at the stations... The stations *are* identical, I'm very sorry I didn't take a closer look at them... I suggest all the people using this station set take another look at the graphics, and compare them very closely with the originals on MB's site...norfolksouthern37 wrote:point is that i TRIED to make them look similar.
is that really bothering everyone that much?

Exactly - Did you not read what I wrote, *they have been copied*. I say again, I am annoyed that I did not notice this before, they are exact duplicates.... How do I say it any better than that?!?
I'm not using these stations anymore, no matter how good they are, as it's just downright wrong - especially when he stood up and told us all they were not ripoffs...
I am so sorry I didn't see this happening

I received an e-mail from Michael Blunck on this subject. He provided me with an image comparing the stations posted in this topic with his own work, and the graphics do indeed look like they have been copied. I have removed the GRF file from this topic - please do not repost it unless the graphics have been suitably altered as to not violate copyright laws.

Can he prove that he hasn't altered his work to look more like the stations here just to shut someone else down?
I also think that we should not be heeding any such contact form Michael since he refuses to participate actively in the community, preferring instead to "dump" work into the scene.
And another thing - if you have removed this on the grounds of copyvio, would you also care to remove everything from the "download locations" list please, as I believe these are also in breach of copyright laws

thats sick! ttd should be about people working together. If the graphics have been copied then i think that micheal should be properly accredited, however, i think more could be achieved if people contributed parts of stations etc and worked together. I think Micheal should be more open about the progress he's making, and allow others to contribute in order to get better results.

SuperTycoon, sick is that people steals something you worked on
more sick if they release before you did ...
and those graphic are clearly rips, only part of the buildings were used, some modifications very added, but they are rips
and one rule, always ask, MB usually allows people to some his graphic (like his cargos LongVehicles) but noone likes when they are used without permission .... much more this stations are supposed to be GPL ... so I doubt there is place for any part of any other graphic without any permission

what are you looking at? it's a signature!
it is not to hard mimick TTD Scale Sprites if you got the right palette if you know how to do sprite art good.
, i agree with Chris here. and there are clearly 2 pieces already diffrent in comparison pictures, A)the cranes, then the houses/warehouses/storages.

ChriCF you're soo slow. It took you 11 whole minutes to write a rant about Michael, and his ways. You're the unlimate truth, and everyone should abide your way. All who do not, deserve to be put aside.
Oh yes, I forgot to congratulate you on finaly flaming eis_os into leaving the forums.

If you don't like Michael's, or anyone else's work, don't f****** use it!!! You see, there are people (myself included) who like GPL and all the free licenses, but there are others who do like to copyright their work. And there are others, (Yourself excluded) who RESPECT those copyrights, even if they don't like it.
What the heck are you thinking? The graphics have been on Michael's site for months. And You are accusing him of copying these stations? That's ridiculous!!
Seriosly Owen, please do something about this 'authority' guy before he does more damage, than he has done already, and ruins the whole community.
As of the stations, it's a shame, that those graphics were ripped, and even more shame, that NS_37 tried to dodge it...
I sincerely hope the other stations are genuine work.

Look, it's very hard for me to please everyone. I have to consider all sides of the argument, and in this particular case, it did seem fairly obvious to me that the images had been copied. My action was to remove the graphics file, as it was technically a violation of copyright law, and Michael Blunck's newer graphics are not under a license that permits modifications (at least not without permission, which in this case, the user did not appear to have). I am quite happy for the graphics to be reposted if they are modified.
We are currently having a discussion about this on IRC... I may yet revise my decision on this particular issue. I am writing a policy for this sort of thing so please bear with me.

I did not. He left of his own accord. Having read the IRC logs, even Owen and Josef don't really blame me for that.Szappy wrote:Oh yes, I forgot to congratulate you on finaly flaming eis_os into leaving the forums.
I don't, and I encourage other people not to use it too, since they're of no use to the community of graphics artists, whereas other projects here under more respectable licences are. There's massive potential for people to learn things from the insides of the US set, for instance. Michael's licensing ultimately holds back development activity in a community in which he doesn't even participate. If you don't like Michael's, or anyone else's work, don't f****** use it!!!
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that he modified those graphics recently to look like the farm stations here? It would be fairly simple to prove that those graphics have been the same for months, but until you do, it's a perfectly valid point. What the heck are you thinking? The graphics have been on Michael's site for months. And You are accusing him of copying these stations? That's ridiculous!!
That would be Michael you're referring to, yes? If you're going to make accusations, at least make public everything that you're accusing people of.Seriosly Owen, please do something about this 'authority' guy before he does more damage, than he has done already, and ruins the whole community.
As for some of Malicious' accusation, including the platform was just petty. Perhaps I should sue him for the fact that the colour of his urine was clearly modelled after mine, over which I could claim copyright ...
Why the heck are you guys complaining about MB? Akalamania had a similar thing happen to him recently, where his model was stolen by someone else and passed off as their own.
It's obvious MB doesn't want people taking his work, then taking the credit. Would you guys want that? So lets have less of the arguing.
Especially you Chirho. You argue for the hell of it, even when you have no good reasons. It's worse to the community than MB not posting. He doesn't have to post, but he obviously reads. Like A LOT of lurkers.

Michael Blunck is definitely petty, but I have no reason to believe that he's a cheat and a fraud. I think suggesting that he modified his sprites to shut down a competing project, is unworthy and inappropriate without some kind of evidence.
At this point, it looks like arguing over the copyrights is moot; it will take norfolksouthern maybe half an hour to redraw the particular complained-about sprites, and re-release the set with nothing that can even be accused ot a violation. Or, quicker yet, he could just disable the farm station, leaving the rest alone. Let's just do one of those, and carry on.
