Started a new Gord-style game (hope he doesn't mind  )

The new company's main city is Roscoe. To enter the city, the company chose a railfan-friendly route: through a leafy depression in the suburbs. The houses near the railroad tracks are protected from noise by the trees on each side of the line. Visible here is an express train whose engineer (driver, operator, etc) is anxious to finish his run and go home for the day.

Visible here is Roscoe Thoreau Street, the only terminal in Roscoe for now. It is named after Henry David Thoreau, a great author who resided in Roscoe for much of his early life. :P

Two mainlines will eventually call the station home (only one does for now, the other one has yet to be built). Both express and commuter trains run every half-hour, with the commuter services leaving 10 minutes after the express trains.

Some radical politicians have proposed to demolish the landmark arches of Thoreau Street 8o , a proposal which On-Track instantly rejected. As a precaution, the station was given landmark status.

Here is Elba, the outer terminal for the commuter trains to Thoreau Street. The switches have been set for the commuter train to enter Elba, and the passengers aboard the train hope that the express train arriving will wait for them.

The line was forced to pass through a very hurricane-prone zone. After consulting with environmentalists, the company decided to construct barrier islands to weaken future storms. The tracks have been strengthened to prevent damage. Because of ports 'inside' the barrier islands, bridges and tunnels were built.

Here, a train to Roscoe crosses over bridges. These were built instead of tunnels because the nearby port is only suited for small ships anyway.

Don't mind at all..I'm honoured!

Love the way the mainline digs right into the heart of the city. I enjoy doing that. There's two ways to do it...start a game in 1830 with very small cities and let your city build around the station as your company grows...or start in the 21st century and cheat like hell by blasting bits outs of a massive city! Both are enjoyable and both can look really good if done well.

Great shots..keep them coming!

Will do!

The promised mainline has been built. Like the first one, it originates from Roscoe Thoreau Street. However, coincidentally, it ends in North Bend, the same city where the first one ends (this was just because On-Track could not find a suitable city to terminate the line).

First is North Bend, the terminal of the two express services to Thoreau Street. The Central Mainline is visible on the left of the picture, while the South Mainline diverges below (it becomes double-track just outside of this picture).

Note that trains depart exactly every 15 minutes; however, the South Mainline is a faster way to Thoreau Street than the Central Mainline (the every 15 minutes thing was completely random; I just noticed it myself).
2 North Bend.PNG

Thoreau Street has not expanded since the first time we saw it, but usage has doubled. As in the previous screenshot, express trains leave on the :00 and :30, while commuter services depart on the :10 and :40. Visible here is a South Mainline Commuter train rushing towards Thoreau Street.

And a map; feel free to request any area for an in-depth screenshot. Please do :D

Network coverage has been extended east, with a new ship service and connecting bus. All services are precisely timetabled to meet, so that passengers do not have to wait to transfer.

First is North Bend. The train station is visible, with its departure board. A South Mainline Express is just approaching the station while a Central Mainline Express loads passengers.

Then comes Corinth, where a bus service (the Corinth Islander) connects with the ships crossing the strait. Buses service Strasburg and Alamo.

Finally is a map, made with JVassie's map generator. Credits to JVassie for an amazing program!

Airports have been constructed near Roscoe and North Bend. Connecting train services link the airport and two nearby cities.

First is North Bend Airport. Visible are a plane from Roscoe landing (it is colored red because the company runs it as a separate, premium-priced brand. The color helps differentiate between the two), a plane to Roscoe landing, a passenger plane (white/green) leaving for Selma Airport, and a mail plane (green) loading mail before leaving to Selma Airport.

The services to Selma Airport only exist because of intense lobbying by politicians. They agreed to fund 100% of operating costs for the service, so the company saw no reason not to start it.

The connecting shuttle trains (from North Bend and Phillipsburg [terminal of the North Mainline]) are both leaving the airport now.
5 NB Airport.PNG
5 NB Airport.PNG (143.93 KiB) Viewed 2607 times
Next is Roscoe Airport. Visible are: a loading plane that will depart shortly to North Bend, an aircraft in the air going to North Bend, and two connecting trains (to Roscoe and Carbondale) departing the station.
5 Roscoe Airport.PNG
5 Roscoe Airport.PNG (130.66 KiB) Viewed 2607 times
Finally is Gorham North. This station serves both the North and Central Mainlines; it is the only direct transfer between the North and any other mainline (the other place where all the mainlines meet, Roscoe, has two separate stations connected by a subway).

The North Mainline commuter trains (the three shorter trains now at the platforms) used to service Sidney, an additional stop down the line. However, because that segment was redundant with the express, the trains were cut back to Gorham North. Equipment, however, was not reduced, so there are always at least two North Mainline commuter trains at the terminal here.

In the screenshot, a Central Mainline commuter is approaching its terminal and a Central Mainline express is departing, bound for Roscoe Thoreau Street.

Just two for today:

A new freight network has been instituted, with trains running via part of the South Mainline.

Here a wood train, after unloading at a sawmill, crosses over the switches onto the South Mainline to return to the forest.

At the rural stations, a new system of announcements is being worked on. This was introduced to alert passengers that a train was arriving. The announcements sound like this:

"The 20:01 North Mainline Commuter to Gorham North is now approaching. This train will make stops at Carrollton and Gorham North".

The independent segments of the announcement were recorded by a company employee. A computer system puts the parts together to make a complete announcement.

For example, the above announcement consists of the following parts:

The
20:
0
1
North Mainline Commuter
to
Gorham North
is now approaching. This train will make stops at
Carrollton
and
Gorham North.

I'm back with more!

The wood network has been expanded. In addition, the wood from the sawmill is now transported by train to Roscoe Freight Terminal, where it is transferred to trucks for the final journey into Roscoe itself.

Next, the company has constructed a vintage line and museum to attract steam-engine buffs. The line continuing to the center-right is so that the steam train can take passengers from the North Mainline. There is no other way to access the exhibits. Note the North Mainline on the bottom right. It is not visible from the vintage line because of a heavy forest.

Here is the museum. Also visible is the working steam train with passengers aboard.
