That just sounds quite rude tbh!According to the Ipswich Evening star the new trains are popular with drivers and train spotters alike. One driver said:
It's probably every young boy's dream ... when you feel that pulling power, that muscle, almost feel it grunting, it is quite amazing ...

Heh? No was just posting that I don't like the Karasuma Line subway trains, that's all... - I do use them every day.
No different than Dave posting about the PPM, 150s, Bendydildos or Voyagers. The last journey post, likewise. I'm not making superfluous posts here - I'm making about the same amounts of posts in those topics that I always did :/ - exactly the same context, the trains of the places where I happened to be. Whether that be Britain, New York, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, etc.

We get the idea Jake, you're jealous.
The Karasuma Line train doesn't look too bad to me, perfectly functional. Do they really have people there to pack you in?

Oh yes, I won't deny I'm jealous. And Jamie.. twas only a joke mate

Re: (Ugly) Post here your favourite or worst looking trains
That's quite unlikely; I've had a "packed" train once, on a Thursday evening very late (second last train that would go to the place I needed to go) from Shinjuku, the busiest station of the world with a mere 3.6 million passengers a day, 20% more than the London Underground. Shinjuku is in the middle of the entertainment area of Tokyo. I was taking the Yamanote Line, Tokyo's ring line with 3.2 million passenger a day. The reasons the trains were so packed was because there were disruptions on the line and thus a significant reduction in the amount of trains.Kevo00 wrote:Do they really have people there to pack you in?
There were no people with white gloves pushing people into the train, just a platform full of people that wanted to get with the train. Getting into the train was easy; you just go with the flow. Actually someone in front of me fell and someone shouted something and then the pushing stopped for a while till the person was on his feet again. In the train, which had all seats folded up because it was so busy, someone started to hyperventilate and then you're in serious trouble as there is no way to make room. You can also keep standing without holding on while the train accelerates like a rocket; you can fall. In any case, the hardest was staying in the train at a big station a few stops further.
So, unless there were serious issues it's unlikely his train is busy enough to even consider needing people to push other into the train.
Re: (Ugly) Post here your favourite or worst looking trains
Apparently, there's a lot less of the pushers since the advent of flex time to lengthen the rush hour. Japanese trains are already very wide so there's vast amounts of standing room - it's always a bit of a shock when I'm trying to talk to someone on the opposite side of the train and there's a giant gulf between us! But since the rush hour is stretched out far more, the problem isn't as bad apparently so they fired many of the pushers!
Apart from the Haruka Airport Express, I've only used the Karasuma Subway Line, which is unusual since it doesn't seem to have a rush hour. If it does, I'd expect it to start about an hour earlier than usual though, since there's many people who live in Kyoto but commute to Osaka on the Special Rapid (aparently, the busiest Special Rapid service in Japan).

The GM-EMD GP-7 does not look so ugly, considering it was designed to be ugly, so that railroads would put it on out of the way branch lines (A last stronghold for steam). But then, the Northwestern's colors look good on hood units anyway!

Loadhaul?

There is nothing it doesn't look good on.
Including an 04!?!?!

And this absolute beast of a shot of an 89 in LoadHaul haha:

LoadHaul was a short lived arm of BR's freight division on the long wind down to privatisation. Nothing in the early 90s in the UK is all that fondly remembered, except this.

I won't mention it on WNXX but I consider it safe to do so here... I don't like it.

Dave,
That Class 04 looks almost like a New Bright kid's toy in that livery, but somehow I like it!

No wonder it looks ugly- that's the wrong end! Any real railroader or railfan knows they're supposed to run long hood forward, like a steam locomotive.
Agreed, the only thing I don't like about the EMD GP series is their looks. Ugly as the proverbial stump fence; but in the US we have a phrase- "winning ugly." It means getting the job done, but sacrificing style, grace, etc. to do it.
Compare the GP7's complete lack of styling with the (to my eyes, anyway) attractive lines of the BL2:

Who is John Galt?
Re: (Ugly) Post here your favourite or worst looking trains
That Loadhaul translates well is not too surprising - orange and black livery always looks good - look at this SPT 156, or the Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail) 'small GM'. Irish Rail had a nice line in US built diesels that were not the most aesthetically pleasing, but always looked good in the orange and black colours.
