Lumber Jack Continues

Post by Jim Powers »

Hey TT-Forums Members;

As I said before, I'm back playing a game from one of my most challenging
scenarios, "Lumber Jack". (Page #25.) I wanted to share some more 'screenies'
with you, if you don't mind too much. I'm never tired of TTD. What a game! :)

Always,
Jim Powers

Ooh, nice screenies! But isn't four tracks line too much? I see that you don't have that many trains yet.
Jim Powers wrote:I'm never tired of TTD. What a game! :)
Same here, it's the greatest game ever made!
And BTW, the Lumber Jack is one of my favourite scenarios (in my top five :) ).

Mr. Jezulkim;

Looks like you ARE a real TTD die hard like myself, Sir. I saw yours and
Mr. White Rabbit's screenies in 'Pictures of your games' and I like them. I used
to have those nice Waypoints, but, I've somehow lost them. Also Mr. Blunck has
done so much for The Game that it's a shame for others to 'steal' his work. I know
that it very often causes one to 'loose heart' when this happens. Look, if one just
accepts the fact that another is more talented in a certain area, then he/she becomes
more creative and your inspired to excell.

And talking about inspiration, below is part of a very complex section of my present
game 'Timberline Inc.' I deleted the whole area and had to restart it all over again
yesterday, which took me about 8 hours or more and still don't have all the 'bugs'
worked out.

Now, to answer you question, Sir, at present, I have 52 trains. And, I've always liked
a smooth running RR system, in which, (I feel,) is necessary to allow 4 tracks to
bring this about. I hate clogged trains rocking back and forth tring to go but can't,
all because there aren't enough lines open to let them run. So, if you've ever downloaded
any of my saved games, expect to see the 4 track system. Now, maybe, it would be
a challenge to try to convert them back into the 2 track system? Who knows :roll:

Anyway, I appreciate your interest very much, glad you like "Lumber Jack" also. :wink:
Here's more screenies.

Always,
Jim Powers

This is the area I was talking about. When I first installed this section, I didn't follow some basics, and that's why it was redone.

Also, I posted some screenies of your Lumber Jack scenario, I have 208 trains running there and no jams :D

Plenty of Switch-backs!

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TTD Members;

Thanks, Mr. Geo.c Ghost, for your kind remarks. Always appreciated, sir.

Now, I kinda wanted to let you see just how many RR switch-backs, (4, so far,) is seriously
needed in my 'Timberline Inc.' saved game. I was running into major RR traffic problems,
thus, I realized it was time to do some heavy duty Track changes to become profitable
again. So, all day Saturday I constructed "Switch-backs" to allow those diesel engines
to get up the "Lumber Jack" high mountains. Wow! A lot of work and a lot of real fun. :lol:

Here's screenies.

Progress with Timberline Inc.

Post by Jim Powers »

Hey Guys;

Thought I might share a couple of screenies with you on Timberline Inc.'s progress,
if you don't mind too much. BTW, how much time do any of you play a TTD game?
Man, I play for weeks! I'm I being too involved or am I just a TTD freak! :shock:
I don't know. 'Lumber Jack' is such a challenging scenario that I just can't get tired of
perfecting my RR system among all those mountains and rivers. I think I'm addicted,
or something. I played 14 hours straight yesterday and can't wait to get back
to my game today (Sat.) :oops:

Anyway, thanks Mr. Geo.c Ghost for being so supportive. I also noticed that
Mr. Robotboy posted a topic wanting a scenario, but, since my friend Mr. DanMacK
has got that covered and doing a darn nice job of it, I guess I'll get started on
a new scenario as soon as I can come up with an idea that inspires me. If any of you
have a suggestion for me to make a scenario, please let me know
, as I need to be
"jump-started" in the right direction this time. :wink:

Here's screenies.

Jim Powers

Hooked On TTD

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. PoRrEiRãO;

WELCOME! Looks like you've found the most popular web site for TTD. Though you might
check out some of the links associated with TT-forums. Some great guys are here to help
make your visit very pleasant. Yeh, I'm hooked on The Game I spend most of my free
time either making scenarios or playing them. I love trains, and making them run
smoothly sometimes it takes days/weeks, but, I think it's worth it. 8)

Anyway, glad you liked the pics, if you have any questions or need any help with TTD,
I'm sure you wont have any trouble finding it here. :wink:

I'll be honest. I haven't played TTDp for at least, 2, maybe 3 or even 4 months now! :o
I seem to have gone off it a little bit :(
I'll get back into it again though. It always goes in a cycle.

However, i still love to see other peoples work, and especially yours Jim!
Screens look good. Keep up the good work:D

Longest Game I played

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear Mr. Rob;

I 'echo' Mr. Rudge! And add what did you do in all that time? Back when you could
only have 65,00 or 66,000 max population, when I tried to to build some large cities,
I worked several months on a scenario, but, now if I'm 6 to 8 weeks making a
scenario, I'm too long, though, "Grandeur Gardens", "Jim's New York City" and
"TTD - Squares", were all time takers. "
Extreme Cities
" (which is a little ways from being downloaded 3,000 times,) was my
first scenario that I put in "TT-Forums" and I remember it was about 6 months til
it was finished. :roll: So, you hold the record for longest game, Big guy!

Mr. Geo.c Ghost, what happens to you, I'm sure, happens to the rest of us, so it's
pretty normal for this game. The unusual thing that happens though, is that after a while,
you'll automatically go back to The Game , because of it's natural strategy appeal. Now,
that's what separates it apart from other games, at least I think. My 'hat' goes off to
Mr. Patchman who must have the most time building this most fantastic game!

More screenies.

Always,
Jim Powers

Dear Mister Powers,

I was just sort of to lazy to start building a new network, it seemed just to much effort to put in all that track again. :D
Besides which the devellopment of the patch it remained a challenge to keep the game running smoothly whith all those nice new features. 8)
But when the patch goes stable I'll start a new game. Just looking for a good scenario, temperate climate.
This scenario must "force" me to respect the landscape, just like the in the long game I just finished. That was the "Zeeland" scenario, which contains large bodies of water that are impossible to change into land early in the game, and when the network is in place it's not neccessary anymore to do it on a large scale at least.
The scenario should also be a bit "in scale". I don't like to play a map of a large piece of land, like for instance your India scenario, the ttd maps are just to small for that IMHO.
I tried most of your scenario's which are great fun, but I'm looking for something to play for a few years. :wink:

My Latest Scenario

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear Mr. Rob;

I'm in the midst of my latest scenario, "Spicy Spain". Suprizingly it will contain a lot of
seacoast. When you say that you need to respect the landscape, just what do you mean,
Sir? Does that mean that there is too land, or that the areas are too small for the whole country?
Example, "Out of Africa" has only a portion of Africa, while "Outrageous Outback II" has all
of Australia. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? I hope so. And thank you for your fine
support, my Friend. :wink:

Spicy spain

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TT-Forums;

I just wanted to let you see the progress of my latest scenario "Spicy Spain".
This scenario is in the Temperate Mode, because of the many more features of this mode.
If anyone from Spain or Portugal would like to tell me about the types of Industries and
the major cities, I'd be very appreciative to you. I just don't know too much about Spain,
though I've been to The Canary Islands, (where us Americans weren't too welcomed). But,
maybe that's because it's so close to Moracco. Anyway, more Americans vacation in Spain
than any other European country, I've read. :)

All in all "Spicy Spain" should make a fine scenario for the new Spanish Train Set
that I just found out, was under construction. :shock:

Here's a screenie.

Dear Mister Powers,

A picture says more then a thousand words. :D

Image

As you can see in the picture there is a lot of water in my map. It's just impossible to change that (turn it into land) early in the game
because it's too expensive, and later on when the network is finally in place and the money starts to poor in
it isn't nesseccary anymore to change the landscape too much.

In a random map I always level out the landscape to keep the trains from gowing up and down a
hill or even a mountain, so I do not respect the landscape but distroy it instead.

The above map is a small part of my country, which is just about big enough for the TTD scale.
If I would play on a map of the USA for instance, then my stations would have the size of an entire state,
compared to the complete map, and I don't really like that.

Greetings, Rob.

Mr Rob;

Wow, when you said "A picture says more then a thousand words",
you got that right, Sir! Though I believe in preserving this wonderful God-given
enviroment, in my games I'm a monster at chopping trees and cutting through
hills and mountains, because I'd rather see a more efficient RR service. If you'll
notice, in my last game, from my scenario "Lumber Jack", you'll see from my
'progress' screenies just how much I've altered the landscape. :twisted:

Since it looks like you like water and maybe islands, you'd probably would have
liked my scenarios of southern Florida and The Keys (islands). I just wished
that I'd have saved them, but, they were made before I knew of TT-Forums
and that I could share my scenarios. :cry:

Anyway, good job on your 'record' game and scenario, Sir. :wink:

Always,
Jim Powers

p.s. (BTW, I've got some 'splendid' projects in the works.)
