I think it is time to throw some very cold water onto the discussion before it evolves into a full blown conflagration.
!. Badger: Please don't be sorry for using OTTD for the larger maps. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your decision.
2. Engineer Mars: I apologize if I misread the intention of your post. The coders and developers should not design for both TTPatch and Openttd because it is needed. It would be nice if they did it out of simple courtesy and because they want to. but definitely not because they have to.
3. ZxBiohazardZx: SAC did not say that she does not want to support the OTTD community. She did say that her artwork requires the support of custom bridgeheads which are currently not available under OTTD. I think you will see that her trees and her lights and transmission towers work quite well under OTTD.

:D

Warning: SAC is fast, very fast. She has already replied to ZxBiohazardZx

TTDP and OTTD are not the same, on a multitude of levels.

Frankly the compatibility between them (especially as regards GRFs) is already very good (more so than would be expected), but expecting total compatibility and/or major features to be cross-developed, is really missing the point and in most cases technically infeasible.

That's misinterpreted my friend! It's nope, I don't play OTTD at the moment, and yes, my work is for both TTDP and OTTD!

glad you are back anyway i LOVED your previous work, very inspiring to say the least, really hoping you can support your scenario for OTTD as well, as unfortunantly the old one only worked under TTDP

(aka could he release the GFX set (even if its eyecandy only) for the:
INFRA-busses
INFRA- railrods
INFRA- roads/tunnels
INFRA- Bridges (optional, but since we have Total Bridge Renewal, why not?)

this would make a pwnage already

Well, my scenario is actually more of a construction zone rather than something else... Besides, I'm using the very same scenario this time as I did before my absence so...

Pwnagewhat?

Anyways, screens will come but at the moment I'm spending lots if time re-organizing my graphics files as well as transferring graphics from TTRS2 to TTRS3 - which I haven't used before, and there are some heavy work involved!

Have to get rid of all snow covered buildings - just to mention a few projects before I can move on with the rest... but have faith... :))

i would just love support for your scenario in OTTD, that means releasing the missing GRF's you show, but arent released, and also some other features that ill have to beg the devs for (custom bridgeheads aka the road entry ON bridgehead tile, rather then impossible combo's

like your work A LOT:)

Yes well, apart from "stolen trees" and some landscape stuff nothing else from INFRA has been released so far. And I believe it'll take awhile longer before that happens - although I consider a New Objects, (eye candy), release!

And as soon as custom bridgeheads is available in OTTD I will likely cross over myself! :))

Hmm, I haven't abandoned this again - although it may seem so...

I'm still working on the new scenario map, and it takes some time to transfer buildings from TTRS2 to TTRS3 - especially since the latter have snow covered buildings, which I need to get rid of since I use rocks instead of snow! It would be nice to see a .grf though that instead of giving us snow based on a pre-defined level, gives us a snow season based on the year cycle! That would make it more interesting rather than having some snow covered areas looking like islands on an ocean...

Anyways, new screen will come as soon as I've managed to transfer everything. Things doesn't get faster though as I tend to start drawing and improving in the middle of everything... Below are some of Zimmlocks churches, changed into a different church and a dome - or a cathedral if you like... :P

George's ECS Industries as well as the Canadian train set each do this. 8)

I could also offer my snow line mod - which limits itself to just this functionality: http://binaries.openttd.org/bananas/Sno ... 1.0.tar.gz
As parameters it accepts the snow line in December and June respectively. Actually I'd be quite interested to get feedback wether it works on TTDP, too, as I can only test on OpenTTD.

They do? I never used the ECS in my previous game, but with my new start I use all the ECS.grf's except ECS Houses, but all I noticed is snow based on levels rather than on the entire map - and not in a cycle either!

Well, I play TTDP only so that won't do me good... :P

Besides, the link doesn't work...

It's a parameter setting for ECSTown vector.

Yes, but doesn't that just work as the snowline.grf? Or does it actually provide snow based on a cycle? If so I must of course try it out - although I imagine it'll give me some issues since I use dirt roads up in the mountains - not to mention that not one single of my houses are snow covered...

amazing shot again, every time i build a "city" it gets either to big to fast, or i cannot control certain objects id like (eg churches) they tend to disappear on my TTRS3, even with parameters set to certain era's

anyway lovely again sac, hope you have more of that soon:)

If discussion arises again I'll split some sections off. I rather see we keep this on toppic though again and we'll all forget the discussion we had here. There are better places on this forum to have a discussion.

I still haven't forgotten this or abandoned the game... It's just that I can't help myself get stuck with drawing instead of getting the map playable, but I'll get there eventually...

Anyways, a quick screen to show some progress...

Enjoy... :))
