The installer either hangs or takes longer than 30 minutes to start web update. I have a laptop with XP home 1.5 ghz processor and 512 MB ram. and the files seem to have gone to the folders as they should have just never did finish the webupdate after 30 minutes? Am I missing a needed windows update to run your new installer?

belive it or not i did test it on a laptop with about 1/2 your power and it installed. fine.

it should be set to give up after 15 seconds, just incase a firewall trys to hang it up. it is only grabbing a small text file (few k).
You can skip webupdate by unchecking it at the start.

check you pm's

Check your PM.s I installed everything manually except the version files and I pressume I got t all as the Provo senerio loads fine. I figured since the auto update for versions failed no need to have them installed. Hope that's not a copyright problem.

Nice pack from what I have seen and played with... lots of stuff and so little time to try them all

even though it is installed to the Lomo folder, It dose not install it to you objdata folder, It installs it to a temp folder cluster called Chicago_locomotive_Works. inside here you will find the manual install if you fail auto install, plus all the read me's. You can also find the instructions on how to build the gantry signals here.

If You were a first stage beta tester, This setup will remove all the older beta files. So all our games with this in it will fail? Or will it overwrite the old ones?

It deletes the old install folder cluster "!plastikmans_mods", then it will overwite the the old files in objdata... you might experiance a sound bug with scenarios and savegames you made due to the addition of new sounds. other then that it should work fine.

i was just doing a bit of housecleaning on beta machines :)

fixed the installer "hang"

it looks like the installer has issues if your have an isp that requires login/pass for web access (PPPoe).

If you have PPPoe, you should configure your router to authenticate for you, so you dont have to use the bloated software .

I might have a fix for that, otherwise... no autoupdates for you!

Have cable connect no password. All files where easily copied manually (yes read directions people). My only problem was installer hang and required the dreaded (control alt delete) Claw of life/death and end task. Not a big deal.

Plastikman see PM's. and go thru a router but never had the router cause any issue(s) with any other dl/install. Could have been a mere general internet glitch. I will download and try new install later tonight..

Good advice.... I did read the file and it does tell you what to do if beta installer fails (hung up for me). All parts manually installed as per readme files and working fine( least ways the ones I tried lots of equipment so little time) :!:

Tram Man do you just make a habit of asking the obvious or is it that you really can't be bothered to use this forum correctly?

The signals are part of the pack, Plastikman has written a very long list of what is needed to be done when you use the Dekosoft pack both on his posting and in the readme. But I forgot you probably don't have the packs and anyway you couldn't install them even if you had them, we've been there and tried to help.

At this point I am shutting up as I have no desire to see Andel lock this thread due to one users stupidity in asking bone questions when reading through back posts or using a search function would give them the answers.

well since there are no pictures in the downlink other then the file itself... i guess not....

now if you read the read me, it might tell you what is in the pack.. or you can go visit the support thread for the scenario portion of the pack http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=37714 or you can read this thread from the begenning to the end....

if you can't do that you can read this..

Items included.
Mini-Scenery sample pack for Provo Utah Map:

Bridges**
Arch Bridge: Digidampfman
Flyover Bridge: Unknown (please let me know)
Earth Slope: Stephen Brandwood

Signals**
Tri-Color: Justin Cornell
Searchlight: Justin Cornell
Dwarf: John Mucci
Grantry (Modern): John Mucci Recycled from SQ's 3D Gantry File .

Stations**
Roofless: Digidampfman
Wooden Freight Platform: John Mucci

Buildings**
Trailer Homes: John Mucci
US Style City buildings: Robo *I Rebuilt them into Fewer Dats

Industries**
US Grain Elevator: John Mucci Baised on Grainery by:Insert Name

Trees**
Weeds: John Mucci

Ground Tiles**
Salt flat: John Mucci
Red Dirt: John Mucci

Climate**
US High-Snow: John Mucci

Notes on instalation and game play.

The Gantry Signals MUST BE Two-Way!!
If they are installed one-way, They will clip as trains pass under them and there are bits missing that will look bad.

Thanks to everyone that Put the time in to help and/or donate bits to this.
**********
Scenario Note!
**********

The scenario uses a modified Trackst.dat, it is recommended you back yours up first.
The installer SHOULD back your trackst.dat up automatically..... but!!!! i don't want to be responsible in case of an accident.
In some RARE cases, if you have modified road dats, this could cause a conflict. If you wish to install your own modified trackst.dat by hand.. well.. i am not here to support that you are on your own. the folder sub-structure should be logical for finding the files on your own.Look in Your locomotion/Chicago_Locomotive_Works\Objects\Scenery\Utah_Map_Mini_Pack folder for the Sceney bits and the Trackst.dat
it would be nice if you ran the map at least once as I had intended.

.. also in the pack are some trains!!! YES!! trains!!! some awsome trains by Chip Buchanan at Dekosoft trains

now.. i am gonna go BBQ a nice 2 inch steak and celebrate dead people..

No where in the read me file did it say a word about BBQ'ing.... hmmm perhaps that signaling error I had that caused train wreck can be put to a good use (save the charcoal use accidental wreck for BBQ..... No steak (livestock involved in wreck only good to make burgers with)

Great set.... Only a few items I haven't tried... gotta check the burgers on the rails

install worked perfect for me, and i like the new way you set it up.

one question though, i love the pic of the new grain elevator, is it going to replace the farm buildings, if that is possible. it is more realistic to have our trains load at grain elevators, then farm buildings. like i said not sure if that is even possible, but if it is that would be really cool.

but i have not played the new beta pack yet, due to real life, will tomorrow. but i flipped through the engines and cars in the scenario editor, and all i can say:

The updated install worked fine on my machine... It could a local problem here or a internet problem. Might also have been the timer set as Plastikman told me. Just a mote for anyone that might have installer ang read the readme files and do a copy manually. Be sure to backup your objdata folder before installing.
