TT Meet 2013: London, 28/07/13 [PLEASE SIGN UP]
Hello all,
So, it's been decided that the 2013 meet will be held in London on the 28th July 2013 (a Sunday). Further information on the meet can be found at the wiki link below. If you think you will be able to make it, please update the wiki page with your name:
http://www.tt-wiki.net/wiki/TT_Meet_2013
If you're not definitely sure you can make it, but think you can, please update it anyway. Just click Edit and add "* ~~~~" in the appropriate category, and the wiki software will autocomplete your name. (You use the same login for the wiki as for the forums.)
More information will be published when we've decided what we'll actually be doing on the day and so on. If you have any thoughts, please post them here! Suggestions for things to do on the day, in particular, would be welcome.
The one thing I can say for sure is that we'll be going to a pub. Tradition since 2010 at least has been for the meet to start in a Wetherspoons, so I've decided that we should start at Leicester Square (like in 2008), at The Moon Under Water. It's a short walk to the Yates we visited in 2008 though, if anybody would care to be nostalgic and revisit it - perhaps we can reproduce the famous photo of us all outside the pub.
Anyway, as I say, please sign the wiki, and suggestions are welcome for activities.
For reference, the old discussion topics are here and here.
Attached to this topic is a cheat sheet showing some of the plans for the day, so please print it out and take it with you if you think you'll need it.

As said before Ill sew if I can organise some closed station bashing, although it looks unlikely at this stage. Will try to get something down.

Should be fine for me. Could we get rough times for when we'd be meeting and dispersing so I can book my train tickets?
Also, I'll look into concocting some games.

Is there anybody in the London vicinity who would be able to host me for two nights? That's Saturday - Monday.
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

I should be there from around 11am, perhaps 11.30am - depends on if my flight is on time and when I can get the Tube. As for when things will finish, 5pm or so may mark the end of "official" festivities, but people may well stay out for dinner or other stuff into the evening. Unless everybody's boring, I will probably be around for a while at least.Bad Hair Day wrote:Should be fine for me. I'll check my work schedule and go from there.
Ukončete, prosím, výstup a nástup, dveře se zavírají

Hmmm, that's unfortunate. I've just appointed the 28th to have some friends over here in Holland. Surely we could all come over, but I highly doubt they'd be interested.
Having that said it's Moon Under Water that's nostalgic to me. It was one of the stops of a pub crawl I went on last time I was in London. I wonder if the two red phone booths opposite of the pub to the left are still there. Those are nostalgic to me as well. I have a picture of me inside one of those from my first trip to London back in 2004.

As suggested by me before, scratching station bashing, how about a visit to Epping and Ongar railway?

I have an idea for a game.
Its called Russian Red Bus Roulette, run in teams of about 3 - 6 people depending on attendance.
Each team has a tracked Oyster card (Ive done calculations, for 4 Oysters with £10 credit which is ample for a days running and a £5 deposit so £60 total.) and has go travel between two points which are all the same to all teams, BUT have a different via point that they must stop off at en-route and take a picture of a well known feature nearby. Teams must use a variety of bus services only, tube usage will be disqualify the team if found out, and must not use the same bus route twice. Foot travelling is permitted.
So for example Camden to Pimlico via places such as Marble Arch/Park Lane, Leicester Sq, Waterloo/London Eye or Trafalgar Sq.
Winners get to be moderators of the Spam bin for the day, last team forefit mod priveleges (if held) for a week or get to pay for a full round of expensive beers out of their own expense.
Thoughts please.

Can't track an oyster on the day, only when processed. Takes at least 24 hours. Anyhow, the prizes are silly, and some may not drink.

Prizes can of course be flexible. If needed we can decide on the day.

I would suggest nothing too complicated, and also nothing that's going to divide us up for more than maybe half an hour. This is meant to be a social occasion, after all!
Re: TT Meet 2013: London, 28/07/13 [PLEASE SIGN UP]
To be honest, above mentioned game sounds not very fun. Costs a bit of money, divides us into groups to.. ride a bus? I'm still hanging on to the whole Quiz thing

Re: TT Meet 2013: London, 28/07/13 [PLEASE SIGN UP]
I think a group-saver travelcard would be cheaper Although I like travelling around, I'm not fond of London buses at all. Plus I don't really fancy travelling around all afternoon.47 407 wrote:(Ive done calculations, for 4 Oysters with £10 credit which is ample for a days running and a £5 deposit so £60 total.)
I'd rather be sitting and socialising with the group as a whole. Perhaps with a quiz thing that I've heard about in the past
Like me.Dave wrote:and some may not drink.

I just want to sit and get lashed.
Well no, I don't, but I do want it to be an interesting day. Running off only works for an hour at most.

Flights and Travelodge (in Hounslow, right next to the Piccadilly line, and not far from Heathrow, which will be handy for Monday morning) booked.
