Chrill and Jamie's Multiplayer Extravaganza
Chrill and Jamie's Multiplayer Extravaganza
So at the TT-F meet, we all agreed tonight to play a BIG GAME. And noone else wanted to.
So me and Chrilly played a game of our own. The rules? Passenger Destinations and Infra Sharing and Timetabling. All passengers, they can transfer between companies and can choose a mix of companies to reach their destinations.
We want to go to bed, but here's a brief overview of what we've done so far.
The map, showing who built what. Yellow is me, Purple is Chrill.
Ravensthorpe, the hub of my network.
I ran both local and express trains on my network. This setup allows them to overtake easily.

Re: Chrill and Jamie's Multiplayer Extravaganza
A town near to Crewe. Due to the intense competition, Chrill started to connect towns nearby direct to his network without having to go through Crewe, building his one-platform station there which was profitable. To compete, I built a commuter rail line underneath the city, which you can see.
Chorley was the first connecting point between our networks. There's a super-frequent bus service between our stations, instead of having a joint station. It also allowed me to build a much better located station for onward connections and fast access in and out, even if it didn't actually serve Chorley very well.

In case you were wondering, the operating profit graph. Yellow is me, Purple is Chrill. I keep telling him, he needs to be aggressive and attack my area with competing services!

He's probably not used to private rail transport.JamieLei wrote:In case you were wondering, the operating profit graph. Yellow is me, Purple is Chrill. I keep telling him, he needs to be aggressive and attack my area with competing services!

I also wonder why you didn't connect so many cities to the network until 2007.

I got mine from this directory, as the first two directories had broken folders in them:http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/chillpp/ ... hfe846ddd/

I have, but can't get it to work on my Mac. Curiously it gives me a 'not compatible with this build' error.colossal404 wrote:Simply download one from hereKevo00 wrote:Impressive stuff. I must work out how to install the patchpack.

Are you sure. Just to check, you should have got this file: openttd-chillpp-hfe846ddd-macosx-universal.zip . If that doesn't work, you might have to build the code and apply the patch. Easier said than done...

Time to pick this up, Jamie?
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: Chrill and Jamie's Multiplayer Extravaganza
I'd love to but I'm back in Cambridge now, and have no time to play TTD! Also I think the ports are blocked on the uni network. Otherwise I would do it for an hour a week or so.

You can configure the ports being used... If you configure the server to use a common port like 22 or 80 or similar it might even work in the presence of port blockers.JamieLei wrote:I'd love to but I'm back in Cambridge now, and have no time to play TTD! Hmmm not a bad idea... - but I have no time this term so I'd rather not. I'm barely posting on the forums any more!planetmaker wrote:You can configure the ports being used... Well, we're back. I don't have any pictures of maps, instead I give you a silly solution to a rivalry.
I am red, Jamie is yellow. I got to Santa Ana first, see the through station. Jamie then approached Santa Ana from a different angle and I built a 2-platform section (since upgraded to 3 platforms) for him. I then figured I had to rival him and constructed my station in Montevideo. Once that part was done, I could not figure out how to plug it to Santa Ana. That resulted in this...
