Photo Of The Month - April 2012 Entries

Post by Geo Ghost »

Evening all.

Entries for the April 2012 Photo of the Month are now open.

The theme this month is Bridges and has been set by the previous winner, Ameecher.

Rules can be found Here.
Please read and familiarise yourselves with them if you haven't before.
Previous winners can also be found on that page.

How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.

At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available till the 7th of each month (approximately).
The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month. Then we repeat from there. Simple.:D

Best of luck to everyone.

While I'm in the pics, might as well enter this. :)

If it's not clear, the pic is showing the under structure of the Hood Canal Bridge. Hopefully that counts ;)

During my holiday trip to Scandinavia last summer I took a few pictures of (railroad) bridges. Attached is an image of the Storebælt bridge taken from the shores of Nyborg.

And mine: Taken from the road bridge, looking down on the rail bridge going over the 'water bridge' going over the stream - Håverudsakvedukten in Dalsland, Sweden (I was there last summer, also had a nice trip with a small steamer on the lake).

Sydney Harbour Bridge anyone?

(Image uploaded to wiki here.)

I have another photo taken from the other side which does show the Opera House in the background, but I kind of prefer this photo.

Two Northern Rail Class 158s form service 2H93 1404 Carlisle-Leeds, seen here crossing the Ribblehead viaduct on Saturday 12th February 2011 as it approaches Ribblehead station, the approach road from which this photo is taken. The Settle and Carlisle Railway is one of the most celebrated feats of British railway engineering; twisting and turning over impossible terrain as it snakes through the North Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District. This place is very popular amongst railway enthusiasts, as the desolate landscapes in the fore and backgrounds offer an insight into the bleak lands through which this railway cuts. You can also see the highly popular Station Inn, which provides a fantastic pit stop on a number of routes across the moors.

This photo may be less about the train in view, and more about the stunning and barren landscape on which this beautiful British railway structure sits.

I took one a few years ago on the QE2(?) Bridge at Dartford.
We were in a traffic jam and it was foggy so outside of the bridge was just empty white
If i can find it i will submit it

Firstly, thanks for all the votes from everyone last time. Now here is my new entry.

A train bound for Edinburgh exits the Forth Bridge with the road bridge framed behind. Sunset after a heavy rain shower.

Yeah, I think Ameecher must've had that one lined up when choosing the category. However that being said, it is an epic shot...

Genuinely not, I picked the category with the intention of submitting a shot of the Tay Bridge(s) then a journey to Edinburgh today presented itself and the weather was amazing. I only took them today ;)

Hahaha. PIG!

Edit: For what it's worth, the data page on Flickr shows the correct details except the camera was still set up for NZ time, I'd just never noticed since I got back over a year and half ago!
