Yes.
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: Battle of the Maglev
I prefer the one that goes upside down.
Very much a retired regular poster..... If you can say that

Both is horrendous when it comes to junctions, so...

Can you give us some sort of reference points for those less familiar with the topic?

This is what I meant to say. I just chose to express it with fewer words.Kevo00 wrote:Can you give us some sort of reference points for those less familiar with the topic?

Not that it's any hugely scientific opinion, but the Transrapid seems kinda dead for me. There's always speculation about new projects, but nothing ever happens. I'm not sure whether the technology came too early, too late, was just badly marketed, or simply isn't as good as some thought, but I don't see it achieving much relevance anytime soon. Maybe they (or somebody else - like the Chinese, now that they have the technology ) will try again at some point in the future ...
€: and, no offense to the Japanese, but the SCMaglev is just criminally ugly all around xD

Re: Battle of the Maglev
Haha, and I'm that token Japanese around here who'd take that offence.
I don't know enough to say which is better or what-not.
I just know that transrapid-based system (including Shanghai airport line) and JR maglev (that's what you call SCMaglev?) use two different system for levitation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maglev#El ... suspension
One is Electromagnetic suspension, used by transrapids, which uses the power of attraction between opposite sides of the magnet.
The other is Electrodynamic suspension, used by JR maglev, which uses the power of repulsion between same sides of the magnet.

Re: Battle of the Maglev
I have always prefered the transrapid. The technology just makes more sense and is probably easier to maintain because it does not use rubber wheels on any part of its journey. I also feel as if the guideway is less disruptive and more compact. Not to mention that not mention none of the proposals i have seen involve digging through hundreds of miles of mountain. It is unfortunate that the test track is demolished because i feel that if the tech was developed further the transrapid could compete wih high speed rail. Although one good thing is that thyssen-krupp still markets the tech to countries, so i dont think its dead yet!

Neither type of maglev use any wheels.Cecil Cityscape wrote:it does not use rubber wheels
That has nothing to do with the technology used - it's just the challenge of trying to lay a flat track through a mountainous landscape - unless we're actually comparing the actual proposed transrapid line against proposed Chuo Shinkansen line. But comparison of different lines in different countries mean comparing different economics, demand, politics etc etc...not mention none of the proposals i have seen involve digging through hundreds of miles of mountain.

Re: Battle of the Maglev
Technically, the JR Maglev uses rubber wheels until it reaches a speed that allows the train to be suspended by the electromagnets.
