Improvements to v2.1

-Further lighting improvements.

I don't think I'll ever get the lighting *exactly* the same as the default objects, but it's getting pretty close!

Improvements in v2:

- The graphics are much cleaner, and more fitting with the default graphics.
- Climbs hills at the correct angle.
- Prototypical engine sounds included.

Introduced: 1958
Obsolete: 1985

Power: 2000 hp
Speed: 90 mph
Weight: 78 tons
Reliability: 180% (90%x2)

The loco is configured as an "improved reliability" loco, with a lifespan of around 20 years. It will still work fine even if you don't have the improved reliability mod installed.

You, Mr D, are a legend.

Any chance we could get some overhead-supply EMUs next? Also, you said you had to restart your game to use new vehicles... I'm not sure, unless the chap who made East Anglia V2 had them installed, they automatically just 'appeared' at the appropriate time.

I believe he did. :)

There's a lot of things I want to do (Mk2 BSO/DBSO, Edwardian steam locos, Class 25 diesels)... I must admit I don't know much about British 25kV EMUs... would you care to suggest a class? If there's one based on a Mk1 or Mk2, that would be easiest.

A class 321 would be good although this is not based on mk1 or 2 carraiges.

Cheers

I heartily suggest the Thameslink 319

Image

That way, people could integrate it into the existing layouts (somehow) without a lot of track fiddling, as they accept both the third rail and overhead. Of course, that would be a design challenge but I think it's the most sensible given the circumstances. Plus it's relatively timeless looking.

AM9! AM9! AM9!

They are a MkI derivative, 100mph, built in 1961 (set that for start of 1962 in the game), initially formed into 4 car sets, though they could legitimately be represented as 2 or 3 car sets. Set them for withdrawal at the end of 2000 - this would correspond to the second withdrawal.

I'm leaning more towards the AM10 at this point. :?

Here's another question for you all... when would you like the Mk2 DBSO? In reality they weren't introduced (modified from BSOs) until 1979, but I'd quite like to be able to use them earlier.

BTW, Warship updated to v2.1. :)

You people do realise this engine is lighter (about 30 tonnes) than the ones either side of it? making it absurdly powerful in comparison. Despite being less horsepower it can accelerate harder than the NEXT train...

The power and weight numbers are accurate - Diesel Hydraulics have a much higher power/weight ratio than Diesel Electrics.

Class 170 Turbostar
Top Speed: 100mph
Horsepower: 420 (Not too sure)
Coach's: 2, 3 or 4

Plus, it could be used as a starter for an Electrostar.

Accell = force / weight
heavier means less accelleration.
As it's 30 tonnes lighter it'll accellerate better. Of course, it'll have worse grip on the track, but I've tested this in game so that's all right. It performs about the same as the 2500hp Class 47, which is invented 4 years later.
It also is so much better than the class 37, invented the year before that it's stupid.
Then again, 2 years later the class 71 comes along, which (being an electric train) really kills the warship...

Yes, but are the numbers for the trains in the game accurate? It's the comparison against the other trains in the game that's important, not against real life.

It does cost more to operate than the Class 37, though.

The in-game weight/hp numbers are all about right, yes.

Have just downloaded and installed your class 42 and am mightily impressed with it.

Keep up the good work.
