I've had a go at this.

Steam trains carry coal, gold, livestock and wheat through the valleys, while chimaera passenger trains dissect the mountains. A monorail service transports passengers between the airports and city centres. Oil trucks load from the oil fields on the north shore and transfer to the main city station over the bridge. Food trucks supply the city with food from the northern processing plant which is stocked by 4 pegasus'. There are also passenger ferries and buses that travel back and forth regularly between the seaside towns.

You still have plenty of time! Present us the ultimate and must-have tropical game and your desire to have a tropical game might quickly become reality :-)

The screenshot looks quite nice, rbir :-)

Time for another update to the titlegame competition website. I hope I didn't miss anything, please tell me, if so :-)

I added separate preview pages for each screen size so that it becomes easier to compare different entries for a given size. One can also download everything (screenshots and savegames, 100MiB!) or just the savegames.

Enjoy and keep entries going; people who already submitted entries are of course also always welcome to update their entries. If so, please do that in a new posting in this thread and add tell which savegame it updates :-)

Cheers,

Okay, so I decided to try to make a scenario as well, and I've got some ideas with respect to a tropical scenario which some would like to see. However when starting the editor in beta4 I noticed something: how does one change desert back to grass? I found a strange way, which is to put rocks and destroy them afterwards. I feel like I'm totally missing something but I just cannot figure out what.

edit: I hate myself. I should just've pressed control...

The MAGIC key :-) - converts desert to lush green pastures.

Creating a titlescreen proved harder than expected. Attatched, a small image, a bigger image and the opntitle.dat

edit: and added a wide one (dual monitor but the one to the right has a rather low height) to the post above this one.

edit2: You can discard this submission.

edit - 16:55 31 jan, I made some small changes and decided to redo the entire post.

1- how to make proper screenshots from the homescreen? (crtl s / ctrl g don't work)
2- why is it called opntitle.dat and not eg. opentitle.dat
3- any suggestions for the mountains to the right
4- please note the strange black space due to dual monitor setup :)

edit2: Small comment on my map, I could shift the top left of screen a bit to the left: the lumber mill would be better visible then and a bit to the top as to better show the monorail however this would render the ore mine in the bottom right invisible on 1280*1024.
edit3: I've edited this submission Tuesday February 01.
edit4: Additional changes to my submission on Feb 03.
edit5: And another update, the bottom left corner on high-res-screens now shows a refinery. Also, added a heliport (and maybe to the right on the screen on high resolutions an airport).

edit6: Processed some feedback, used some different colors, not sure though how it looks. Looking forward to the-very-high-res-screenshot of this one as I currently cannot see whether the stream to the far right will end in the sea is visible.

1. There's an island in the middle - I made it there hoping Zvolen will fill it with townhouses. But seems like it's completely ignoring it, it doesn't even have that island under local authority...
2. There's a convoy on the bridge, travelling at 88km/h. If it looks bad, I can sell some trucks.
3. There are pre-signal and PBS examples on the normal railway. Pre-signals are electric, PBS semaphore.
4. F-ing opntitle.dats, how do they work?

EDIT: I just noticed... It started building a house on that screenshot D: Dammit... I'll update when it's done :D

a) make sure the windows-option "hide known extension" is off
b) rename your title.sav to opntitle.dat and put it into the data folder

Sorry that I'm LOL-ing but haven't seen such a thing in a long time. But here how to fix it: edit your post, beneath the orange submit button, select browse and select the file you want to upload. Click "Add the file" and resubmit your post.

1st posting wrote:Deadline for submissions is 14th February 2011, 23:59:59 UT, later submissions cannot be accepted. Please attach the savegame to this thread. If you update an existing entry, please indicate which savegame it replaces (link to previous posting).

Upon closing of submissions a final list of all entries with screenshots using both OpenGFX and TTD base sets will be published and open to vote for one or two weeks to create a short list of three entries. This short list will then be subject to a 2nd round of voting, open for one week. Details on the voting procedure will follow here in due time.
Voting will be done by sending me an e-mail, I'll add the details to the voting page when it's due. Votes will not be accepted before the deadline for submissions is reached.
