[REL] Alpine Island

Post by noofnoof »

Transport lumber and coal around this alpine island...

Difficulty: Challenging
AI: no competitors
no mods required
acheive 60% performance index

Well... this map took me a while, and it's not done yet, it's just reached a playable stage. most likely going to be some updates in the future, and would probably go well with some US set.

I invite suggestions and please post some of your screenshots.

Maybe you could use some of the area in the sea parts for more land, the main islands look a bit bare of open spaces

yes, I intend on doing more work on this map. what do you mean when you say it looks like it lacks open space? It has room to lay tracks, that aint much of an issue.

It's a beut map, it's just that there's so much open sea space which could be used for land.

But I do love that spiral though.

Thanks, I've enjoyed playing it myself with some deko stuff. in the next version I'm going to expand into sea, make more room for the junction, which are a bit pressed at the moment, and myabe add a big town somewhere so that you can transport more passengers.

Well, I've decided to use Seaboard Coast line for this map, since the only locos are a FM Cab diesel, a C30-7, a BQ23-7 and a U36B. It works out though, because it's such a small map.

Having said that, because of it's size, you can only squeeze in a few industries. In it's current state however, it's perfect for a trucking empire, but we all know how these fail when citys expand. Also, what's with the random pyramid in the middle of the ocean?

May the force be with you.
For little boys, three things reign as supreme attention-keepers: tanks, heavy construction equipment, and trains, we all know why where here.

now we are getting slightly off-topic... technically no, but there was something special.

anyway, map. thinking about extending it out past the lumber mill and making there lots opf coal mines, but the terrain very rough and difficult to build track prettily through. and improving junctions with more room

Alright then Mr. Noofnoof, here you go. Although, I did some modifications for the map (including getting rid of that pyramid  ) so it won't look the same. Right now, I'm up to 1966 (I started 1952).

The rather modest yard, now renamed Desmond Yard, with all Baldwin power. In a couple of years, all these locomotives will have been replaced by GP30s and SD45s.

Sure mate. I'm stuck on 1967; my trains keep jamming and everytime I interfere, they somehow crash. :D

What climate is this? It's imaginable it'd be Alpine but all I see is American trains...

Not to mention the fact that simply playing the scenario answers your question, and if you really want alpine trains then you can mess with the vehicle selection in the editor.
