~Come play @ Nekomasters Server~
Im starting to get really bored of playing by my self, since I cannot find a AI that will actually compete with me or build, nor do I have any one to play with. Also I cannot find ANY servers that have some decent grfs, or has people still playing it. So Im going to make my own server and any one is welcome to come and play
The map will be a sub tropical map with 2cc world trains and tropical trains.
If you wanna play just post or come on, the server will be "Nekomasters Server"
I'm using OpenTTD Version 0.7.5
A heads up, 2 grfs that you can't get through the content downloader...

You need to forward your ports, for that you need the router username & password. Forward them to 3979.

You aren't to only one having this issue. You can see this topic where a few of us have been trying to get to the bottom of this.
Anaway, I would likely play on your server, aside counting the mentioned issue, except your's is a version mismatch. I'm running 1.0.0-beta1

Um, You know you could just download the zip files, put them in your openttd directory where the exe and config is, and just unzip the version you want when you wanna play on a server.Cornflower wrote:You aren't to only one having this issue. eg.
openttd.exe
openttd.cfg
Openttd_0.7.3.zip
Openttd_0.7.5.zip
Openttd_1.0.0_beta.zip
openttd_cargodist_minpack_r18644m.zip

Re: ~Come play @ Nekomasters Server~
If you choose that approach, make sure to unzip not just the exe file but all other files too.
My approach is to have all grfs etc. in the shared directory in C:\User\Leif\Documents\OpenTTD\(data\) and then have the different versions installed in different directories. Like I have one "last stable (including pre-stable)", one "last nightly" etc. Using OpenTTD Auto Updater I can get these directories updated when I want to play them and there is a new version for that release type available. It may use a little bit more disk space, but I prefer keeping each installation files separated.

No hassle with newgrfs missing anywher, no copying around and unzipping, just chosing the correct dir.
Honestly I don't get the point of _a few megabytes_ an additional OpenTTD install will eat (30MB for OpenTTD 1.0.0-beta1 on MacOS, and that's know to have the biggest binaries), given that people readily install _gigabytes_ worth of games from purchased CDs and download gigabytes of video and music files. Somehow the proportion seems out of order to me.

Re: ~Come play @ Nekomasters Server~
I use almost exactly the same system, I just have a folder called "OpenTTD Multi" on my desktop, and unzip any new version to there. It's the same folder where I keep my installation of OTTDAU so it's fairly simple.Zuu wrote:If you choose that approach, make sure to unzip not just the exe file but all other files too.

Re: ~Come play @ Nekomasters Server~
I already know you need to unzip everything, I just download the zip and keep it as is, since you also need the language files for that build or it wont run, or if it does you'll get weird looking characters.
