The DOS version was for the DOS version of TTDPatch. 8)

Two separate GRFs by Nivlheim, a really nice looking train depot and matching foundations set.

Those foundations are just a little thing, but they're well-known ! ISA uses them, Emperor Jake used them in his NetTrans game...
Even I use them ! They make the temperate foundations really good-looking. Though, it is redundant as OpenGFX+ Landscape allows me to use the tropical foundations, made of concrete.

I had seen them being used in some of the screenshot topics you mention. But you can't download them in-game, so not everyone will know about them, or know where to get them. 8)

Of course ! There should be someone to upload GRFs not on BaNaNaS...
However, we may need accord of the authors...

There are several authors who prefer not to use bananas. Also, some authors are no longer around. If those authors did not specify a license that allows redistribution, then nobody can upload to bananas without those authors' direct permission, so yes, we would need their accord.

Well, did PaulC asked permission of authors to post their NewGRFs in this thread ? :D

I haven't posted any GRFs, I've posted links to old forum posts.

Which is always good because we not only get the GRF direct from the source, but we also get to see the work the author put into his/her efforts. :D

Standard Gauge Tram Tracks

Alternative tram tracks by PikkaBird, although the floating wires look a bit weird to me without any poles to support them.

Those download links aren't working though, try these instead: Windows GRF / DOS GRF

Random Andean Town Names

Random South American town names mostly based on Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Ecuador. A comparatively recent one from kamnet, but I like it and you won't find it on Bananas, so here it is. 8)

New Water

New water and coast tiles by lepkka. Although created for use with the original TTD base set, you might recognise the water as it was reused for OpenGFX. Latest version was v0.7 but if you look through the whole topic you will find earlier versions and see the various changes this went through during development.

TransRapid Track Set

Originally made by FooBar, this track set replaces maglev with an assimilated track, the TransRapid track. It gives you the illusion the track is elevated, and it goes to depots, and even stations ! This could however give you a weird impression with level crossings which are still allowed with this track set. It works with any maglev set, be it Monolev Replacement Set, Modern Maglev Trains or DB Set XL (though it gives just one TransRapid IIRC).

Eh, that one's not very obscure, anyone can find and download it in-game via the content downloader. Cheers though! :)

Created by Jekulkim, this old GRF replaces two of the futuristic aircraft with the UFOs from the original base set. A nice idea that could probably be done better, but it's all good fun, eh?

Didn't realize I quite like the idea of having ufos or other disaster related vehicles available for gameplay (probably because I rarely play with the setting enabled). Might add them to the fictional aircraft set, or make a seperate grf for it.

It's quite nice to have one fly past and not worry about it blowing up your stuff! I was tempted to do something with these myself...

Liked your grf BTW, especially Santa's sleigh! :D

1)
Focus is going to be on older GRFs that aren't available on Bananas.
2) Not everyone knows about a lot of NewGRFs that aren't obscure. Think of DPRK trains and RIMS.

Well sure, but it's fairly easy to search or browse and find something new. The point of this topic was to highlight some less obvious stuff that's not so easy to find. I don't think "GRFs you can download from Bananas" would make a very interesting topic because it's something anyone can do with very little effort!
