I'm new here, just stumbled across the forums while looking for new graphics updates for Transport Tycoon Deluxe, which I found at a garage sale last week.
I've noticed some of you have your own threads that focus on your work, all of which are much higher standard than I had ever expected to see come from an 8-bit game.
I just wanted to share with you what I have been working on to replace current graphics.

Thanks for the feedback. It is only my first attempt, so any constructive critisism is very welcome.
Here is another project, about 75% complete.
I'm trying to play around with a futuristic approach and give the windows a water effect.
Does anybody have an image of the palette that shows all the special colours seperate?

Please click on this link
here for a link to the Wiki page explaining the palette and how best to use it.
Great start on the first building! Just wondering though, that second wont be that size when you put it ingame will it?

A floor is about 6 to 7 pixels high IIRC. Your first building looks a bit small scale, your second building is way too huge. Please remember town buildings can only be 2x2 tiles max.

Thanks for the great feedback.
It's good to finally know a little more of what I can and cannot do.
Purno: I really like the trains in your sig.

Are you Dutch, by coincidence?
Anyways, that's OT.
You could try to take a look at my tutorials, though it's focussed on trains, the first part of the tutorial are quite generalistic. There's a link in my sig.

No I am not Dutch.
Thank you for the link. Very simple to follow. I might have to try a train one day.

I'm sure the patch devs themselves would have thought of that
You can have 4x4 industries, AFAIK.

I could always use it as an industry.

Surely an English-speaking country native since I haven't seen a single grammatical error.
Nice efforts for your first tries!
Oh, and remember, Purno, that shopping centres are often like cathedrals - they're not a normal floor high.

Well... the building itself is boooooring, but the graphic is not bad at all!

I wasn't going for an eye opener. I was just making sure that I was on the right track, and in scale.
Edit: Here's what I'm currently working on. Because of it's sheer size, I've had to make it 1x4 blocks. So it would have to be some kind of Industry.

I like that boring building, imagining city made of those buildings reminds me Brooklyn.

Purno was paying you a compliment I believe. He means the building itself looks boring, but thats not your fault - he says the graphics are good. It's like seeing a boring building in town, the building itself may be boring, but people can take nice photos of boring buildings, or paintings etc.

What is a city without boring buildings? Just think about it, it makes a city feel more realistic.
I never have seen a city with only 'super cool' buildings.

Then it's obvious you've never been to the CBD in Shanghai.

Ok, here's the latest from 'Sim-O Constructions'.
Presenting 'Sails Resort'. Consisting of 6 stories, 3 split level stories confined in each 'sail' block. 21 units in total. Available in 2 different sprites, one with and one without roof accessories.
