Need some help with blender: arches, hollow wheels, etc.

I'm working on a coal mine for the graphics replacement in blender and I wonder how you make arches and hollow wheels in blender.

I've seen some in the new graphics allready, but I myself haven't found out yet how to make them, and I can't find any tutorials about it.

Help is highly appreciated!

Dunno how you do hollow wheels 'in blender' but extruding the center threw, and then target welding it, and removing the un-needed bits would seem the easiest way to make something hollow.

Applieing a 360 bend to something, or lofting might work as well.

Hope thats of some help...3d modeeling programs must have there similarities...

I'm used to working with Valve Hammer editor for Half-Life, but that program has an arch tool and a way to make your entities hollow. So if you have a cylinder, you make it hollow with a thickness of X. It will then become a wheel with a thickness of X. That's very powerfull, but has some bugs.

I hope you don`t carve with cylinders to.

to make wheels: make a circle, select all the vertices, press E for extrude, then Esc. press S to resize the new circle. Now select all of the vertices (press A two times) and extrude the whole thing.
