Nothing like living on the "B" Line. :P

I'd love to see an American streetcar/tram/cable car set. Not just "T" specific. A LOT of metropolitan areas have above-ground commuter rail. In fact, I think that I've seen some sprites floating around the forums. Hmmmm...

Yes, I can see how that funky middle section would look odd no matter what kind of scale you're using.

Just for the record, Commuter rail is like Metra or New Jersey Transit, it takes people between the cities and the suburban areas.

EDIT: Anyone who would like to beta-test, please PM me or talk to me on IRC.

I have a plan for US trams for all three climates, it's on the development site

http://www.as-st.com/ttd/usa/

But I need artists to draw them all.

UPDATE: Yes, I'm alive and working on this, coding is being a real bear, trying to manage compatiblity. But the work progreeses slowly but surely. I'd estimate that by June, we should have at least a public beta release.

Looking at my trolleys in game I think I might need to revisit the shading on some of the roofs to make the different models more destinctive. I know there were graphical problems with trying to make the current sprites articulate and I think the problem might be resolved by making the center sections independant peices. This would be similar to the Japanese tram sprites I've seen in someone's signature here and would have happened with the Type 8 sprites sitting on my desktop eventually anyway. I'll hopefully be able to tweak the sprites by the end of the week for you and post the results here and on the USSet post.

Indeed, that would be great. Thanks, Charlie!

Now all I have to do is draw the old rolling stock (and make all of the rolling stock actually look good)

I hate to rain on your parade, but this has already been done, and the set name is being used. The Red, Blue and Orange lines are available in a set, HOWEVER there is no Green Line, and the commuter rail, sometimes called the "Purple Line" is also not available [some of these coaches are double deckers. Theren't any trolleys, either, though the green line uses light rail vehicles that are trolleys in all but name. ;(

PS The red train in this set is the newest livery with a late availability date. An older, earlier, cheaper livery could be used.

That set you're talking about is the very set from this topic. Check the download in the first post and you'll see

If that's the case, I stand corrected. I misread the announcement as starting a new set rather than continuing with one started some time ago.

It really is a good [if small] set, but does need some elements like green line trains, earlier red line consist and commuter rail. Trolleys would be good, but Boston eliminated those in favor of electric busses [with antennae on overhead lines] a while ago, these have also been replaced by standard and natural gas powered bus fleets.

The set I mentioned was a several years old, and did not start off with the tube stock self powerd cars. In early years there was at least one steam loco called "Red Line." So there may actually be more than one set. I found the set (s) I mentioned in my old game archive, but could not find the source.

EDIT: You made me curious about this, so I searched my archives again. There are actually 2 different titles for what appears to be the same GRF [can not be loaded at the same time]. The first two lines of one of the two I mentioned read as foillows:

"
MLMBTA ROAD VEHICLE SET (c) 2006 lws1984, Charlie MTA"
This set does not have the copyright and begins as follows:
"PK"

So pardon me if I was in error.
