I don't worry about it when the turns are entering or exiting a station, trains are going to be slowing down anyhow. If we ever actually get curved tracks in OpenTTD, I'll have to give it more consideration.
It's just a looks thing for me, you're right it doesn't make a lot of difference to speed - and I've been known to use tight corners when space is tight, I just think you could make some of the stations look nicer by just taking an extra tile when you've got space anyway.

So I started to develop a lot of heavy traffic from the lumber mill, furniture factory and a good distribution center I built, that was driving a LOT of traffic through two towns. Time to build a bypass!

Wow, 10 years has whipped by in my game! Here's a screenshot of the town of Wallace and the Wallace Machine Shop in February 1963, and February 1973.

it is 1963 and yet you are using (i believe) a 7.000 HP engine, anyway: why do you then attach 3 wagons to a 7.000 HP engine(perhaps 2000 HP per wagon is a bit much)? and while in the other picture you are using steam again, why?

Nope, I think it's the original SH/Hendry '25' type with only 1250 HP.

It's either the SH/Hendry '25' or the Floss '47'. In 1963 I hadn't added any train NewGRFs yet, and I went for "best bang for the buck". By 1973 I've added NewGRFs, and many of those trains with the diesel engines were now running quite unprofitably, due to high maintenance costs. Meanwhile, I now had a stack of powerful steam engines that were cheaper to buy and maintain, combined with higher-capacity wagons I'm now transporting more product for a lower cost per train, and hauling in the profits! No, I don't play my games with any common sense or follow historic timelines, but, boy, don't all those trains look pretty??

Both very nice little screenshots!

And I think we have to be glad that Supercheese made those emergency vehicles, otherwise the nice warehouse would be lost and an unfortunate baker couldn't have gone to hospital ;-)

The first is Supermop's Modular Locomotive Sheds, the second is the old Industrial Stations Set v0.98.

A little bit of downtime over the last two weeks I got around to installing OpenTTD 1.3.0 RC1 and putting it on my SkyDrive (and moving files & GRFs over, making simlinks on my all PCs so everything runs smooth, etc.) and got to check out some of the newer NewGRF and NewObjects that are around. Quast65 has really been kicking some butt with the Beach Objects and ISR/DWE Objects sets, so I thought I'd put them to use along with Michael Blunck's MariCo set. And what better place to use them than in one of the most beautiful tropical scenarios ever created, Cindini Release 3.02!

BEACHES are bountiful on the island, and both beautifully and logically placed! I took inspiration from the modified tourist guide that was posted in the Cindini Release 3.0 topic and went to work making them appear in-game!
As the tourist guide promises, a sunny day always draws a large crowd at Fernandez Beach!

For those who cannot enjoy the luxury of Isla Leone, just south of the island is the small but popular Reyella Beach

Lovely shots!
The pictures on the Cindini release thread were a great inspiration to making the Beach GRF, very nice to see it in a running game now!
