Well, I promised a story, but first I had to update all my industrial stations because of the version change of ISR and man, what an awfull lot of work that is. But it was definitely worth the effort as you might agree...

Looks sweet. It is certainly a nice change, but I hope you are aware that terrain and trees is not by far everything what needs to be snowed.

Thanks, but I'm aware of that. There's still a lot of work to be done. Next step will be rivers. And after that railroads and roads and more, until everything is snowed. No global warming overhere, hehehe.

Beautiful! Keep up the good work :)

Are you planning to use this in the temperate climate with the "snow in temperate" switch, or will you just be replacing every sprite with snow-covered versions having everything in snow everywhere (i.e no snow line)?

Those screenies are amazing. I didn't even know this was possible!

Well, best thing would be if the snowline (in OTTD) could be set to 0, but since it can only be set to 2 I have to replace all the sprites with snow-covered versions. It's a lot of work, but the result is worth the effort. :)

Thanks. Yes it's possible and very easy to do with GRF Wizard and Paint. Some things are not just copy and past. I have to do those by hand, like making the snow tiles gridless and the replacing of trees that belong to some buildings. But it's fun to do and my graphic skills get better everytime. :)

Kind regards,
Smaug

If I can ask a question: Whenever I start a new game and want to build as realistic and aestethically appealing, I just don't know how to begin. Could you give a brief summary of how you make such realistic towns and networks?

Well, most of the time I build the railways first, mostly with some theme in my head for every new town I'm crossing, like crossing a town in a valley or something like that. Think about real life and the ideas will pop up. Very important is that you build your road network yourself with the "towns build no roads" switch turned on. That way you are in control completely; towns build a crappy network if you let them do it themselfs. And I use some building rules to keep things look nice, for example when a track goes one level up I only make a turn afterwards if the track that bends up in the direction lies of the wanted turn if you know what I mean.

That's in a very short explaination the way how I work.

Kind regards,
Smaug

Sigh....
Canadian Station set, set the right paramater for it, and it sets the fences to the hedges. Or bushes, if you insist on calling them that....

I looked at the first few pictures, and thought you had the wrong forum! 'Graphics like that in OTTD? NEVER!!'. But they are just *gasp* and *ooooh aaaaah* and . Just an absolutely brilliant job done. Keep up the good work and, to keep everyone from going insane about being perfectionists, please post more!

Finished replacing all buildings with snow covered ones in TTRS3. Also CS Rails is with snow now. I also made CS Rails gridless and replaced snow with OpenGFX snow. Also reduced the grevel bed along the tracks. The day I'll start a new game with all of this is coming closer... :D
