But usually it happens, specially when Shadow-XIII starts asking about features that doesn't exist in the grfcodec...

I wondered, that how to change graphics quickly to day-to-dark and vice versa? Is there a file that should be back-uped and then add it back when day comes or other way?
The way I do it, (Which there are many ways) is like so:
Code: Select all
@echo off
cd NightTTD
copy *.grf C:\games\MPS\TTWin95
cd ..
ttdpatchw
This turns Night TTD "on". Another similar batch file is needed to turn NightTTD "off"
Code: Select all
@ echo off
cd Normal
copy *.grf C:\games\MPS\TTWin95
cd ..
ttdpatchw
Now all you need to do is add the above two dirs inside of TTWin95, in the "Normal" folder put your regular trg1r.grf, ect. and in the NightTTD put the file you extracted from Andrex's archive. Finally, put the above text in notepad or whatever and save it with a .bat extension in the TTWin95 dir. Create a shortcut to it and your in business.
This is a very simple way of going about it and I suppose is a stopgap measure untill we figure a way to incorperate it in the front end some how.
Finally, Mr. Moderator I apoligize for double posting (I'm very aware of forum rules...It just boggled my mind that so many people were speaking of "permanent this" and "permanent that" I just wanted to make everyone aware that you could have multiple installations each with seperate .grf's. I originally posted it in the NightTTD thread but after thinking about it, posted in the other thread because I thought more people would read it. I'll behave from now on

I think i'll just stick with your original idea, about the 2 TTD's...

Thanks for the help Torque, i thought something 'bout that earlier
But... I'll put a little poll here, you can answer if you want:
- so, do YOU (you who's sitting in front of your computer) use TTDUrban mod with your ttd (+ patch of course

)?

Well, yes. I love to tinker with all the graphics. And as we discussed above, its realitivly pain free to have it set up for all of Micheals set's and Andrex's Night mod. Variety I suppose

I'm working on a new project (yes, another one

) which features the replacement of almost every building in the game.
If you can guess what is this project, (

) I'll post some screenshots here...

Only the buildings ?
WW 2, all buildings are ruins ?
Zoo tycoon, all buildings are animal cages ?
Wild West, all buildings are western , indian ?
Futuristic, earth has been invaded by aliens ?
I don't know !

Maybe Simcity 2,3 or 4?
The sims?
Simfarm
C&C? (Wild guess)

Oops..

we have a winner!!
I havo no choice than posting a screenshot like I've promised. Damn, I thought you would never find out.

...
The project consists in stealing all buildings possible from SimCity 2000 (my first computer adiction years ago). But since the SC2K buildings style differs from the TTD style, I'll also replace all roads, water, and all the stuff while I have time to.
The following is a preview of my work, which still needs a lot of work.
Ps. I guess Maxis / EA won't like very much this new project...

BTW SimCity 2000 is one of the few originals games I have in CD-ROM.

The roads?
Why replace something good with something bad (the roads in Sim City 2k are really ugly)??
The buildings are good, though

the scale is way off ... ttd buildings are larger scale than sc2k :-/

This is actually a cool idea in principle, but the SC buildings are on a totally different scale from the TTD trucks and trains. The SC buildings are about 1/3 the size, floor for floor, and so I think they look a little off. Not a bad idea at all though. Is there any way to enlarge the SC buildings maybe?

they take up too many tiles also... except for the smallest sc2k buildings they all take 4 tiles or more

Well, the TTD trains and trucks are disproportionately short. You could make new images for them all where they are narrower and shorter, but the same length; then they would both look more realistic and also match the SC sizing. But they might be too small to see like the SC vehicles are.

I think the idea is workable. There were A LOT of 3rd party scurk'ers back in the day...(myself included lol). Dos'nt the blue building in the upper left look similar to Michaels (his is better though!)? Anyway, with some small tweaks this could go far IMHO. There were also A LOT of asian buildings produced

Why not buildings from SC3K or SC4? Isn't that possible?
How can you make these grfs by the way? You can answer this question if you want.

Trooper:
because sc2000 and grfcodec both use the pcx file format, which allows for simple copy and paste.
