The Montana, along with the other new locos you wanted added, have not been added to the list because I don't know where to put them. That is, they do not have dates. Of course, they are also missing data too, but I have to at least have dates to know where to put them in the table.

Hey, any progress with finding the missing data? We have to have the data if we're ever to get it coded.

The locomotive that is being harder to find out about is the 041... mostly the pictures. A lot of the old material in Spain is sold as junk or used for steel; so there might not be any left to take a picture...

Here you are the latest data I have of the steam locomotives:

040 "Verraco" 1903,1240kw,108t(con tender)mercancias,12360kg TE
041 1929;736hp;9555TE;50t/69t
030 Cockerill 1902;960hp;6342TE;37t-12t/40t-25t
140 "confederacion" 1909; 1300HP,120t
141 Mikado Euskalduna 1945;14790TE;2000HP;90kmh;94t-25.5t/103t-63.5t
151 "Santa Fe" 1942; 213t,3025kW,25000kgTE,
231 "Pacific" 1911/30, 125km/h,2050HP,130t
240"mastodonte" 1920;1350HP;60.8t-15.5t/96.6t-34.4t;90kmh
241 "montan~a" 1925; 2700HP,120km/h,180t
242"Confederacion" 1956;21000kgTE;110kmh;213t
282 "garrafeta" 1922:1800HP;22200kgTE;170.2t;60kmh

The only one I haven't a picture of is the 041; but you seem to have one on the tracking table! do you have more?

Is it really sensible to have turn-of-the-century locos?

I may not be able to update the table before I go, sorry. It will probably have to wait until I get back.

Are you leaving? I didn't know...

Ah, I see there are 3 locomotives that are quite old, but historically, those models were still widely acquired until the 20's / 40's.
Also, the text in spanish for the 040 says:

040 "Verraco" 1903,1240kw,108t(with tender) freight ,12360kg TE
(sorry for not translating that sooner, didn't realize)

So that was a locomotive used for freight hauling.

Actually, the 030 is small and weak, we can make it unexpensive. Then the 040 is for freight, and the 140 can be for passengers. So we have a variety of locomotives in the beginning of the game.

* I just realized there are 2 "confederation" on that list... the one I dre matches the newer model, I'll try to learn about the other.

I agree with Sanchi. I also think that having a few turn-of-the-century models makes sense in TTD, especially if those were models extensively used until the Thirties or the Fourties. It helps the player have a basic range of choice for his initial fleet; it would make sense to have, for instance, a very cheap crappy model to quickly start new lines with, together with one "fast" and one "powerful" model that be reasonably priced and, maybe, a real good engine that be expensive as well.
A cutoff date around 1903 or 1904 sounds sensible. That's what we did for the French set, and it gives us 5 steamers, 1 electric and 1 EMU to start with. It'd be cool to see something similar in the Spanish set! :D

Gracias, hombre!

By the way, nice trains you got over there too in the French set! Excellent work.

** I just downloaded Alpha 68!! The trams are on the corner!! I could not wait, so...

Well, no idea about stats, I'll look for them later, but here it is:

It's an old model from A Coruna (northern Spain)

Hola!
After a long time of resting (hit me),
I returned to code. but as you can see in the picture, I have a problem
with the colours. I did every thing (I think) with paint and with paint shop pro to make it working. The 256 don't let it to be fine.
Could you help me please?

And one more question, does this train has a back locomative (this is the 260 locomative)?

Hi Death! Nice to see you!

(sounds wierd  )

I'm guessing that you may be treating it as the wrong type of graphic, that is, DOS TTD vs Win TTD. I've seen that happen before when that's done, but I don't know much about coding so I'm not totally sure.

Sanchimaru, if you wanted to make a list of Spanish trams, I've no objection.

Without the GRF, it's really hard to tell what's wrong.

I have updated the tracking table. The new locos need photos.

I have also updated the Excel file. Please, please, we need LOTS more info there. EVERY field must be filled in. Anyone who knows anything about Spanish trains, or owns Jane's Railways, please take a look at the file and provide missing info.

Soft data (things that don't have to be 100% accurate):
End date - that is, the last date the loco should be available for sale
Life - that is, how long did the oldest loco of that type remain in service before being scrapped. This has nothing to do with the end date, because locomotives are used for many many years or decades after they are no longer being manufactured.

Hard data, where the numbers do matter:
HP, TE. If you find KW, they can be converted. If you find any other information that looks useful, post it, we may be able to figure out a conversion. For MUs, find out if the stat represents the entire trainset, and if so, how many cars are in the trainset, so we can do the division - we record stats per traincar/loco.
Weight. I have a number of locos with multiple weights, and I don't know what they mean. For steam locos, we need to know the weight of the loco and tender. If it's a combined weight, that's fine, because we don't use accurate weights for the tenders (it doesn't really matter, as long as the TE is correct.) But we do need to know which weights are which. We use full weights, empty weights are not really useful. Again, get the units so we can do the proper conversion.
Top speed. KPH is best but anything else will do.

Once we have all the numbers, the Excel file will do most of the calculations and the coding will go much more easily.

Please also look at the tracking table and note any mistakes or omissions.

I finished the 260 electric!
the only problem is the sprites' loading, the train looks like a circus train.
can you please help me? there are the grf at the bottom,
and the oathentic pictures on the development site (see my signiture)

(p.s.
this is for you Dalestan)

The sprites are borkened. Either the palette for your PCX file is no good, or you mis-encoded the grf.

Most programs have helpful options: "optimize palette", "remove unused palette entries", or similar. Turn it/them off; it/they *WILL* break your PCX.

The correct command line for encoding is usually "grfcodec -e filename.grf".

EDIT: If you're using The GIMP, I can give detailed instructions for applying the correct palette, otherwise, your best bet is to open a PCX file that GRFCodec produced and paste your sprites into that.

Thanks for the update, I'm looking for the missing information.

And here is the 100 / 101 AVE (there are 2 in the tracking table, but I think we will finally have only 1 of them. I'll tell you when I have finished consulting)

Yes, please do tell me which one, then I'll fix things.

At least everything is neatly organized now, including the Excel file, so we can tell at a glance what info is missing.

OK, Sanchimaru, I have added the photos you sent me.

We are still missing photos of the 241 "montana" and 231 "Pacific". Maybe the Montana doesn't matter because you already drew it.

On the 141 "Mikado Euskalduna" the photo shows green elephant ears, and your version doesn't.

I didn't add the 100AVE because I'm not sure where it goes. Please tell me which of the duplicates to get rid of, and I'll add the sprites.

Ok DaleStan,
I had searched for such options to turn off, And found nothing.
But I found that when I decrease color depth, there's an option to chose "optimized palette" or "Standard palette".
I tried them both, but neither works perfectly (Althogh the optimized palette makes it better than the standard one). I don't know what to do, the best thing that I can think about is, that someone will send me the file, but it's not a solution. I have Paint 98 and Paint Shop Pro 4,
If you know somthing about those program or you know a better program which I can download free (not a trial), tell me.

Paint Shop Pro will do fine.

You don't want to use any of the palletes that PSP has. You must use a special TTD pallete. There is a pallete file in the Wiki that you can download, and which PSP can read.

I use The GIMP; it's open source. Of course, changing programs means you have to re-learn everything, or do a lot of boucing between programs, and there are plenty of people who get PSP to work.
One of the best ways to get the correct palette is to decode any working Windows GRF, open up the PCX, and save its palette.

@krtaylor: Where? Because it's not on Preliminaries, DrawingSprites, or PalettesAndCoordinates, and searching for "palette" returns nothing interesting.

Thanks, Guys (Krtaylor and DaleStan)
I've done it!
And Dalestan, it is the PalettesAndCoordinates, The PSP has read it, I didn't know the psp can do that too.
but thanks for the GIMP.

Hey, I've downloaded the GRF and I'm testing it! Wow! the first locomotive running! oleeee!!

The - views need to be alligned a bit more upwards, but the rest looks quite fine 8)

The sprite is also cut down a bit (it looks too narrow now)
But hey, as a test GRF it is nice! go on with it, Death!

krtaylor: drop the AVE 101 from the list; we will just stick to the 100
