phew!
Anyone know of any tutorials for putting trains in TTD
the TTDPatch ones seem a bit er, incomplete

All of the sprites I have made seem to be the wrong sizes, when compared to the sprites in game. I used the 1:1 guide from Purno's tutorials but it seems to be all wrong:
all my work, down the drain

That's because, AFAIK, the original TT's sprite leave gaps between coaches. New sets sometimes don't.

ohh, er..
hmm
I'd better reduce the sizes of my carriges by 2 pixels then..
well, thats better than scrapping it

thanks Purno, your tutorials were good
Edit:
Damn, No space to remove pixels, and due to a slightly wonky red livery line, the trains look awful when continuously joined...
Back to the drawing board then
I shall re-do the sprites using the dimensions of the existing D/EMUS in TTDX
hopefully it wont take too long.
Edit2: Actually, due to the different width AND lengths it is basically doing it all over again.. ah well

argh, the trains are SO SMALL!!
'tis no use.. I cant fit the NSE 465 livery into a train that small.
Well, I tried.
Last time I try to make sprites for TTD though.

The original sprites are all 29px long; the full length is 32 px.

hmmmm
I'll try putting at least one of the sprites into TTD and I shall see what happens.
can you put new sprites in without replacing ones already ingame?
(hopes so)

you can replace another climates vehicles and have them appear in the chosen climate.

Im going to try to get my copy of Paint Shop Pro working again soon

There's nothing you need to do and paint can't do. Paint can do anything you need. You just need to know how.

it doesn't take a lot of practise if you get the nack of it quickly. I found that out... and still am to a manner of speaking.
Little bit of practise, and i'm sure that you will be able to make things like that at some time.
Good luck!

thanks!
DAMN Paint Shop Pro.. so, so, so mucked up.
Im considering wiping my HDD to try and fix it, and the many other problems I have (MS paint wont open files .. says E:\Documents.bmp cant be found)
Paint wont open .PCX files, so I have to use paintbrush from 3.1
.. lots to back up though
EDIT:
I havent wiped my HDD as I have no DVD-R's (2gbs of backup

)
I am re-doing my NSE from scratch, using techniques I have learned and my own templates (for correct scales)
I shall post some pics soon, and I hope these will be a big improvement on the first ones.
and purno- I can zoom in more on PSP and there are less menus.. view | zoom | custom | 800%..
it just annoys me

Im impatient like that. It also annoys me that I payed 60 quid for it.. and it doesnt WORK

hmm
Well, I have been starting from scratch and things have been going fairly well, I think.
I thought it would be a good idea to get your opinions/suggestions as I did things, rather than after
so here is my new sprite, compared with the old one
which do you think is better?
any suggestions?
(new one is on left)
I found the best way (for me) to fit the top and bottom red line- with space for windows was to use only 1 pixel width with 2 lines- one red dot and one white dot.
its still a WIP, I want to shape the front a bit more

er, theyre a bit small.. sorry
the windows seem a bit faint to me also
should I make them darker?

Left one is better, IMO.
I'd use the grey-blue color for windows, as you did in the left sprite. They have the right darkness/lightness IMO. Remember light comes from the right in TTD, so in this view ( / view ) the windows should be light.

ok
I shall do some more work and show a completed train soon

(I'll probably have one view done)
