Can you explain
why we should
always use double tracks?

though the question wasnt for me, but i have some comments:
Because double tracks are cool. and moreover, you can run more trains on a single line (where line means a
connection between two stations), which is on one hand more capacity (just imagine you cant expand your station anymore, e.g. it has been grown around by the city), and you can make the trains arrive the stations more frequently, causing significant rising in your traffic rating.
i always use double tracks. only use single track, is when i make a line in-city, with a small (4 wagons) train+small (2 squares) station.

I often use single tracks. In this previous post you will notice that the wood train is a single track maglev. It stops at both station then flies halfway across the map to the sawmill. There wasn't enough output to justify multiple trackas and no reason to build a trunk line.
As well there is a single track train connecting the cities.
On another note, on this game I tested the five station many servicies rule to expand cities and it works really well.

i dont completely understand, but you mean that triple-track? it isnt too big, when those damn trains burst in there, its getting quite crowded. maybe another track-design would solve this.
eyecandy isnt slowing down my game, its trains, or planes pathfinding(there isnt much more that could take so much cpu-power?), i have AMD Athlon 1800+ (1533mhz) and it should be able to run this game.. but now its unplayable.

straight and fast and making much money is not a way to long enjoy the game ... it's building the thing that you enojy .. use 2-tracks rails ... try joing rest to existing rails ... try most trains on as least rails as you can ... do not build straight ... use imagination .. curves and mountainclimbing
look at my or Rai's screenies of TTDPatch games ... how it looks like there

One of the first games I played in (after much play in TT) TTD had incredible city growth that I never replicated. Now I know it was because I was just meeting the need not playing to the algorithm.

I vote in favour of banning this user from the TT-Forums and denying all further access to any (O)TTD sources.
