Wally's point about private roads is very valid, maybe you could draw the road in such a way that at the place where real roads and your roads meet there is something like a zebra crossing or something else. (It's hard to explain.) That way it wouldn't look weird with different roadsets.

Now thats a good idea :)
Whether it would spoil the look or not though... :?

I am a genious for 2 reasons:
- I am able to solve riddles that the most intelligent persons in my class couldn't solve, and they're gymnasiasts ;).
- I coded Alderville station.

Xeryus, you are my coding god

But a question about Alderville: Where has the back-end plaza gone?

Oh, seems like I didn't look at it properly again, I kind of coded it in two go's and it screwed up when I put them together, I'll fix it :).

It has already been recognized, but yet not realized.

No you didn't. We just can't do a dozen things at once :D.

But I've got a question to you, squishycube: You were the first one who introduced the roadset problem. If you want it to get solved, I have a little job for you ;): Get me a list of all existing roadsets - best thing would be: graphics /and/ links to the creator's threads.
I'm currently too busy to do that, and because I've just had an idea to solve the roadset problem probably in a much better way than originally thought, it would be helpful to know how many different roadsets are out there and have their graphics.

Cheers,

Great! Something I can give back :-)
From the GRF Crawler:
US Road Set:

UK Road Set

http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=27963

Combined Road Set (Previously Euro Road Set)

http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=24042

New Roadset 0.1

TTRS (Roads are part of entire set, several different roads in different era's)
http://users.skynet.be/florisjan/ttd/ttrs.html
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=8878 (very large thread)

That's all I could find with a quick search and the crawler. I am quite sure there are more sets out there, but these are the major ones.

EDIT: Only now I see you wanted the threads, I'll put the links in of those I found with search. Also found some more roads:

Perhaps good to note that I won't continu work on the Combined Roadset. If someone feels like taking it over feel free to contact me but I just haven't got the time for it.

Great, thx. Now that's something I can work with :)

Also thx@Hyronymus for your additional information.

edit: Well, this is my idea: Additional "street converter tiles". Of course the graphic below is just a fast mockup, not something very pretty. There would be just four additional tiles needed per roadset, so maybe something that can be dealt with.

This would be a very good solution, better than what I suggested earlier.
