Setting the "win2k" switch to "on" will probably solve your problem. That switch must be on if you're using Windows 2000, XP or Vista.

Try setting the win2k switch on.

EDIT: eheh, someone got here first :D

Right - what happened was - I installed the graphics configurator. And saved when all options were crossed off... silly me.

I am having a major problem though WHY ME?!

I have got it all working, configurator works, music is great, title screen is still blank (no microprose) and switching "miscmods" to "on" is tough as there are a plethora of options for that on the configurator.
I will try and change it via the config file itself.

Here is the problem - Trying to replace the graphics.

I dragged in the new grf files into the configurator. In all there are these -

Fttoc (highest priorety working downwards)
betast
jships
ttosignal
toyland

all of them are selected.

Save... run... the music starts (still blank screen).. press enter and..
Returns to title screen. Does not do anything else.

Not sure what is happening. Inside the zip file there is another zip file containing a png file, an optitle file (whats that for?) a gm00 file (music I presume) and the toyland file.

Thanks for the help again! Its taking me ages to get this right..

an optitle file (whats that for?) a gm00 file (music I presume) and the toyland file.
The optitle(opntitle.dat?). The gm00 is the TTO theme midi, and it's the best midi version of it (I think).

I loaded your config to the TTDPOC, TTDPatch Online Configurator. And turned the doshowintro on. It also added comments to the file. The comments will be removed if you use the TTDX Configurator.

edit: uploaded the file

Is there a way that I can send you my game file (with some things like music taken out to reduce size) ?

I just can't get it to run the grf files. Signals, ships, toyland.. all those work (I think, I haven't SEEN them working, but I got no startup errors!).

I enable the ttoc.grf one, and after I get the "invisible" microprose screen, the game shuts down and goes back to my desktop...
Why is it doing that? Enabling dosshowintro has not enabled the microprose screen... at all. I am really irritated by this. I just want to get it running, give everyone who did it a pat on the back. But i MUST be doing something wrong.

Pretty much, this is what I did. And have been at this for days now.
I extracted the TTD game file from the zip. Installed it. Installed the TTDpatch. Run the game, it works fine (gm music).

I install the dxmci.dll, swap the FM files, enable FM in the settings. Run game, works fine, music is good. Microprose screen is there at startup.

Here is where it goes wrong. No matter WHAT graphics configurator I install, the microprose screen dissapears. If I enable the ttoc on the graphics. the game doesnt start at all...
Whats going on?

Huge thanks for the help on this!

You could use megaupload (google for it). There was another big uploading service but I don't remember the name of it right now.

You can see if the graphics are activated from the graphics status window. In game, it's under the game setting button, the second from the left)

That sounds bad... what I can think of is that the grf file is not coded properly (I'm quite sure it isn't). If you aren't using the latest beta of TTDP can also cause these problems.

I've never heard that a graphics configurator would cause that kind of problems. Weird.. I uploaded a zip file that contains the fttoc.grf file and newgrfw.cfg. So, try this: make sure your newgrf folder is empty and the grf files back upped, also you might want to back up the newgrfw.cfg. Now, extract the archive to the TTD folder. You should be able to start the game now with TTO graphics.
Huge thanks for the help on this!
No problem, I feel I have to help the users of this set :)

You are a God amongst men!! You solved it!

I am not a godly figure, and so I believed that on the TTDpatch site, the icon which said "get latest" actually got you the latest patch..
Turns out it wasn't..

And thats that! Now I have nice original grass and stuff and it all works awesomely! WOAH! AWESOME!

Now all there is left is the train "kirby paul" to be named "chippy" heh heh.

Thanks so much for all this, I know I was a pain. But now I certainly know
what was wrong :)

But, the Microprose screen still aint coming on, even if I put dosintro on.
Its just a blank screen until I press enter... hmm..
Well, thanks again!!

to get the intro back, you need to add miscmods.doshowintro on to your config.

Mind if I use the monorail graphics from this set in a climate I'm making?

I believe this may be a bug associated with higher resolutions, and partly the reason why they got rid of it in the first place. However, I might be mistaken. :P

Just a little note, this may very soon be updated with tto gui, and maybe some extra vehicles.

Yes there's going to be an update :]
The extra vehicles are probably going to be OpenTTD only but we'll see.

You shouldn't ask me. I just ripped these sprites from the TTO grf files.

Here is a teaser of what we are currently working on.
We still need a name for the bus though.
