With the expected "don't like it, then do it yourself" response, I must say.... that the maglevs are quite ugly. ;)

Otherwise, great work on the nightlies! I am using it now in desert scenarios as well, even though there are a few black buildings now. Ugly maglevs are a whole lot better than no maglevs. :D

Nice work. Good to see something happening every now and then.

General remark: Buildings needn't be the exact shape as the originals. Feel free to invent a new design of your own if you're drawing.

i'm new in this thread and i think your project is really interesting.
i don't have many knowledge in 8bpp drawing because i used to work for32bpp but i asked myself if it was possible to take 32b pictures ,convert them and use in 8bpp.maybe it could help to complete the set of building

otherwise really good work.

in _most_ cases is it possible. You might need to flick a pixel here or there, as a lower color-resolution might end up beeing an "action color", but usually do they work _rather_ well :)

Almost all my drawing has been 32bpp, then converted to 8bpp. As long as you pick colours from the 8bpp palette for base colours it works pretty well!

Generally it is possible, as my two predecessors said - but, and you should consider that, with some drawbacks. As Zephyris stated it is mostly no problem when you draw the 24/32bpp version by hand and convert it. But there *is* an issue with photorealistic or nearly-photorealistic input (as renderings are): The style often turns out to be not consistent. My guess is that this is due to the "toyish" look of TTD 8bpp graphics that doesn't fit with the converted things.

Of course you can try it - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I also tried this option approx. three years ago and was never 100% satisfied with the results. (Ok, *maybe* it's just me noticing the style problem ;).)

why dont we all work on it
so that the :D graphics pack is made by everyone

Yes. But it lives from contributions. And everyone can actually do so. If you want to contribute: we need graphics. A list of missing graphics is found here: http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/opengfx/issues
Everyone can even get the latest development snapshot. You would know all this, if you just looked a few topics below in this sub-forum and read there the last postings.

Or here if you want a more visual list: http://openttd.jaspervries.nl/opengfx/a ... objectives. Pick one, click the ticket number link, see if it's not already taken, register an account if needed and post that you're working on it in the ticket.

About the pavement i tought the same - so i am going to find a new one. I checkd the color tabel it has 256 colors instead of 37 which was the original building, so i am going to draw down some unuseful pixels.

Things working like this: I go to devzone, i check the already done works - i look for the pavement sprite and the work in progress building grafix, than i implant them into mine!?

i go deeper yesss :D

have a nice day
That building you drew looks awesome. I recommend using the same pavement as other buildings, i.e. sprite 336 of industries04.pcx. I attached it below as well. Good work, keep it on!

The building does look very good, a couple of points:
* Remember to draw the building stages, these can be tricky!
* Reuse the blue colours for the roof - those are a special set of shades of blue which can be recoloured by the game to add variety.

Apart from that keep up the good work! I hope you can also draw some of the other arctic/sub-tropical skyscrapers...

i love the work that has been done so far guys, its incredibly useful for players like me on Vista as TTD doesnt work on it.
i know some will hate me for this but here goes...
is there any progress on the toyland sprites, specifically the secondry industry sprites? i would quite like to start playing on there again =)

As far as I'm aware in that particular area I haven't seen anyone stepping up and donating sprites. Volunteers warmly welcome! :)

Short answer: no.

Long answer: No; you can check the latest progress here: http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/opengfx. The "repository" tab shows what has been done in the past. The "issues" tab shows what needs to be done in the future. In respect to the latter: as long as things are unassigned nobody is working on it. But you can help! Everybody is free to contribute to OpenGFX, even if the graphics aren't that good. We rather have 'something' than 'nothing'. The main objective is to get things completed as soon as possible while we keep the option to improve things later on open.

Funny fact: quite a lot of people want to play toyland, but hardly any of them is willing to actually draw something to get it completed.

EDIT: planetmaker beat me to it. I'm not throwing away a perfectly fine post though :P

Ok, registered.
But anyway, I have crits myself - too few contrast and too bright.
